Unless Musa is some sort of a hidden gem (who can be a bench player for a while), what was the point of this trade? What is the 2nd round pick from a strong Nets team going to get us in the next draft?

Unfortunately the pick is actually the raptors 2nd. Basically it’s get rid of anything you’re not interested in keeping, start over.

Also the guy who scouted, or something along those lines, from the Nets works for Detroit now.

Raptors are not going to be better than Milwaukee, Brooklyn, Boston, Miami next year. Possibly behind Philly as well. So looking at 6th seed in the East, meaning could be 45th pick or so. That SRP isn't total non-entity poison like getting a MKE or LAL SRP would be.
Weaver = Hinkie
VW to Portland :pray:

Meh, everybody though Toronto was going to fall off a cliff last season post Kawhi, yet they ended up with the 2nd best record in the NBA. Can't underestimate quality coaching/good culture/chemistry and continuity.

I'd wager that pick is going to be closer to 55 than 45.

That really depends on who they bring back. They have some key guys as unrestricted FA's.

Sure it does, but as I mentioned losing Kawhi last season didn't hurt them nearly as much as everyone thought.

Also if Giannis ends up being taken out of play for next season, I'm confident Toronto isn't going to be shy about strengthening up for this season.

Brown is cheap and works hard, even if he isn't a starter he's proven he belongs in this league and is going to be a long term rotation player in the NBA. This isn't like us dumping Stanley Johnson for nothing this is like us dumping Aaron Afflalo for nothing.

First trade of the Weaver era met with much disdain. Getting rid of a young player on a rookie contract who actually defends and is NBA rotation worthy for 2nd round picks is just flat out trash and its Deja Vu right now.

Grimes was better in New York than Brown ever was with us, in their first 2 years.

Both are young guys on rookie deals who can defend and hit open shots. Grimes was not a guy to give away for nothing and that's what we did. Makes zero sense unless you're just coming in to make change for the sake of making change instead of evaluating what we actually have. Makes zero sense. We just keep bending over for other teams nonstop. Gores is too stupid or just doesn't care. He literally said in the press conference that we weren't just going to keep doing this crap we were going to go get some players he can't possible think this is going to get a player this is the continued bending over for other teams we've been doing for the last decade.

Nets can get mid-season cuts and ring chasers for the rest of the team.

I mean, pretty good call here, even if the prediction was with the wrong team and a few years early.

Some very confident whiffs in here though..

I don’t see this thread serving as more than a gotcha to those of us who werent upset when Bruce Brown was traded, or as a platform to continue complaining about Quentin Grimes.

So it’s locked. The THJ thread will remain open. Please restrict your whinging about Grimes to that thread. Thanks everyone.
