Seems like a no brainer move. Talented up and coming player at a position of need on a non-guaranteed contract. I admit I was dubious after the initial THJ/Grimes trade but Langdon has got some wins since.

Also an interesting fact - Paul Reed will be the 10th player from the 2020 draft to play for us (bonus points if you can name the other 9).

Reed has one funny looking shot but its decently effective in the mid range and from 3.

A clue - he declared for the 2020 draft but went undrafted.

This is a quality pickup.

Reminds me a lot of the Christian Wood pickup a few years ago. Detroit grabs an ascending young player for free. There isn't any downside here, but there is tangible upside.

Although since it was just a waiver claim, I'm not really going to give Langdon a ton of credit here. He was just at the front of the line and had first choice on whether to pick up the contract or not.

Still, there is a decent chance that Paul Reed becomes the best pickup/player from the 2024 offseason haul.

I don’t think we’re trading a big u less a deal comes our way, Duran and Stew need competition, which he brings, and there both hurt 25+ games a year so we need 3 centers

Care to elaborate? We don't really know him that well.
Assume there's a reason he was waived, though. Lazy? Motivational issues? Slow motor?
.

Paul can lose focus when on the court which leads to stupid fouls. But when he is dialed in he plays well. He needs to really work on his shot. He is not lazy and at times he shows flashes of being a good player. He is undersized as a center but he can beat his man up the court with ease and he is can be an active presence on the board. I wish there was a way the 76ers could have kept him and continued to develop him.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

He’s still under contract but it seems he’s available via trade.

Help defense sounds good, but is he any better than last season's Duren at defending bigs?

I don't know how to rationalize his high block percentage with his poor DFG% at the rim. I guess most of these blocks are on jumpers, etc?
