He just didn't make attempts on a lot of plays last year and that is concerning. Our perimeter defense was bad, but you still have to make that rotation and keep it from being a complete straight line drive to the hoop.

Yep, lack of desire is the big concern. The team is bad, but you're trying to establish yourself and set up for a payday in a couple of years. And you're already dogging it? My fear is he thinks he's a guy that's big and gifted so effort is optional.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

The real question to ask is who would we get other than Duren if we wanted to trade him? There’s really not many young centers out there that have Duren’s capability athletically and are as young as he is. A guy like Sarr. Clingan is not the same caliber prospect although I think he will be a better defensive center but not rebounder. There’s really not that many centers this young and has this much potential. I just hope he grows on the defensive end. We’ll find out.
