Only watched parts of the game and regretted it. I didn't expect much because it's preseason but it was still hard to watch. Not much more to be said except I hope this isn't what's to come this season or it'll be another long one.

Cade's a PG the same way Grant Hill was.

Call him whatever you want. He was #8 in the league in assists and he's the youngest in that group. We should mix it up more with hims since he has such diverse skills, but the ball is going to be in his hands a ton. He's got some stuff to clean up, but he's 23.

He has a high usage of course he's gonna have high assists. Do you also think Westbrook is a elite passer?Billl wrote:Uncle Mxy wrote:God Squad wrote:I'm beginning to wonder if Cade truly is a lead ballhandler (PG) or more of an off-ball secondary guy. That's not how assists work. They don't just credit you with an assist for getting a touch. If so, carmelo anthony would be the all time nba assist leader.

I didn't not say Carmelo I said Westbrook. Carmelo was a mid post scorer not a pg.Billl wrote:mattao313 wrote:He has a high usage of course he's gonna have high assists. Do you also think Westbrook is a elite passer?Billl wrote:

no, you said of course he gets a bunch of assists because he is high usage. I pointed out one of the billion high usage guys who aren't top 8 in assists and an obvious counter example to your absurd claim.
Cade has great natural feel for the game and is a high end passer. He has some stuff to clean up with his handle and reading the second line of defense faster on drives.

No I compared him to another high usage pg not Carmelo who is a mid post scorer.
Also I don't see a high end passer at all he makes basic reads similar to ivey but he has a better handle that overall is still probably average for a starting caliber pg. Overall I think both are combo guards and not real pgs for similar and different reasons.

Cade is at his best when he's looking to score. He's not a "PG" in the traditional sense, but in the era of position-less basketball I'm not sure that matters. It becomes more about overall roster construction at that point. In theory, Ivey should be the guy pushing the ball up the floor and Cade is your 1st option in the half-court. But first and foremost this roster should be pushing tempo and that means putting the ball in Ivey's hands.
Cade is definitely more in the combo-guard or point-forward mold. I've never liked the idea of him as a "PG", but I've defended pushing him into that role because I think it was good for his overall development. Learn those skills. But ultimately, I think you use him more like Wade/Hill/Luka. In todays league you basically want 2-3 guys who can handle the ball anyway and honestly, it takes some workload off him if he doesn't always have to initiate the offense.

I agree with your assessment! Unfortunately, imo, he's a tweener and I don't think he has a true position. He has flaws:
1.PG - Handles and he's slow
2. SG - Non athletic and he's slow.
3. SF - lack of size (6'5 or 6'6), non athletic and slow.

He should abandon his vegetarian diet to eat some meat so that he could become the new Draymond Green

Grant Hill said Cade was better at everything (in his rookie year) than him except the athleticism.
