Everyone wants him to be the tall point guard like Luka, but Luka is one of a kind. Cades comparison should be Devin Booker or a lesser Grant Hill. His handle is not quite there and his passing has been questionable. Everyone keeps saying he has young legs and shouldn't be gassed, but the dude has already been injury prone and we are making him play the hardest position out there. We have too much on his plate, period.
Sadly Ivey is on the same boat, and should be our shooting guard. He can play PG in a pinch, but we cannot continue to let Ivey and Cade take turns running a position that is not natural for them. We don't have that player on the roster now, but I think not playing Sasser any minutes at all is hurting both Cade and Ivey at this point.
Trajan's number one goal should be getting a competent point guard.
I agree my brotha. Michael Jordan took off when the Bulls got BJ Armstrong. He carried most of the point guard duties along with Pippen. Cade is not a pg! His handle is limp. He's good in spot duty.
Again, like the prison game. Once you been b?tch slapped, it's hard to remove that stench. Everybody in prison or the nba know you've been punked. Get some m?thaf?cking courage mane...some heart! Win a game!!
Couldn't have said it better myself, Rip32.
It's just sad that the options out there are so limited. Let's say everyone besides Cade/Ivey/Ausar/Duren is on the trading block --- what do our other pieces net us in a trade?
Spit-balling potential options here ---- basically dudes that are not un-touchable who could MAYBE be had:
Pelicans:
CJ McCollum - good steady veteran presence - maybe expendable once Dejounte is back, especially if NOLA has a rough start?
Jose Alvarado - Probably a career backup, but good gritty player
Grizzlies:
Marcus Smart - Would Grizzlies want Tobias or Stew? Would like a better shooter, but Smart seems born to be a Piston and we need defense bad...
Scottie Pippen Jr - Crazy good assist stats for coming off the bench
Celtics:
Peyton Pritchard - His role in Boston is pretty perfect and highly doubt he is available...probably more of a career back-up but crazy good 3 point shooter and I would be an instant fan favorite.
Blazers:
Anfernee Simons - probably more of a 2 guard, and horrible on defense....
Dalano Banton
Bulls:
Ayo Dosunmu - too many guards in Chicago...
Jevon Carter
Lakers:
Gabe Vincent - Sounds like he is available, looked great years ago in Miami (would love to get Vanderbilt from LA as well if he is ever healthy)
I understand these options are not ideal, and not bringing us a ring anytime soon. These guys would at least help make us more watchable and would help ease some of the pressure on our two best players.
