Physically, he should really be playing a more traditional "PF" position because he can't match up with most of the bigger C's. But he lacks the skillset required to play the 4 and with the more "positionless" philosophies his deficiencies become even more glaring. Great athlete. Fun tools. Zero skill to his game and he hasn't developed. He is not a serious long-term starter in this league. Sorry, but he's not.

Feels like we've come to this conclusion about every big we've selected in the lottery in the last decade and a half.

Monroe, Drummond, now possibly Duren. All for different reasons. They aren't the same players by any stretch. But yeah.

We need to stop picking bigs if they cannot show skill nor shoot. It's clear as day that it's not a worthwhile pick for potential (???) only bigs

We should have drafted Clingon. What could we get from New Orleans for Duren?

Moose was probably my favorite. He was a sieve, but he had some legit skill to his game and could semi-facilitate from the high post. Kinda like a poor-mans Brad Miller. He also sorta bailed us out by taking the QO and skipping to MIL before we could overpay him. All in all he cost us around $18 or $19 mil.

Drummond cost us over $135 mil. Duren will probably cost us more.

And non of those guys are defensive anchors. It's like we're allergic to C's who play defense. Players are out there who could actually help this club. Mark Williams went 2 spots after Duren. This team likes to gamble on "high upside" players regardless of who's running the ship and it has rarely worked out in our favor.

What's really frustrating is that C's are damn near impossible to find in FA. Jarrett Allen isn't likely to just fall into your lap and guys like Sengun will never even hit the market. You definitely don't want to pay Goberts going rate. All of which just means you *really* need to draft your starting C unless you are located in MIA, LA or NY. And we keep messing it up.

I wanted mark williams in that draft too wasn't a huge fan of Duren cause he was undersized and had a mediocre season at Memphis. But maybe you can't get defensive lob guys in fa but they are pretty common in the draft we just got a lob threat with underwhelming defense.

We really do seem to be gambling this season's win total on whether or not Duren can develop into a legitimate defensive player. If he can't, probably time to make a big move there in the offseason. Early returns on the Ivey/Cade backcourt are promising at least and Holland looks good for the stage of his career he's in (raw was expected, but he's finding ways to contribute).
