He's not a once-in-a-generation rebounder like Drummond, but Duren's a darn good rebounder.
And you're picking on his rebounding on his birthday, a night when he grabbed 22 boards? :)
Trust me, I knew the risk of that happening when I posted that.

Its all the little things that Duren doesn't do, that drives me crazy. He picks up cheap, dumb fouls. He sets awful screens sometimes, instant foul screens other times, and a good solid screen the other 33% of the time.

He relies on his athleticism to grab rebounds, without properly boxing out. Plays at 100% around 50% of the time.

Stewart gives you full bore, every second he's on the court.

*sigh* How much better would this team be with a really solid starting Center, who is a true 7' with size? Say for instance;

Jakob Poeltl?

I honestly think he can be had from Toronto, and is who the Pistons should be targeting. I also believe that Jabari Smith Jr. Is not getting the playtime he deserves, nor the shots, and might be able to be pried off the Rockets.

I'll agree with others on Duren, he's a frustrating player. With the constant foul trouble, lack of defending the 3pt line, and overall lack of game outside of rebounding, dunks, and the occasional flashy play.

Duren’s offensive game is fairly different from Drummond’s- he’s better in the p/r.

He’s worse defensively though, so overall the net impact feels similar.

Hopefully at least this time we realize it before giving him a big contract.

He’s 21 now so his value dropped. We also closely watched Drummond’s development and Duren is not close to Drummond at this point. I think Duren is a bench player and it’s fine. We need to be looking at guys like Poetl, Clingan, Ayton, or even look at the draft to get a big. I think this team becomes a lot better with a better center.

In one sentence you imply Duren is an imbecile. In another you say we should be looking at Ayton as a replacement? Really?

I think Ayton is better than Duren and he’s only on a 2 year contract, I also think we can get assets if we absorb Ayton’s contract. The real question isn’t Ayton, it’s who do you think is available and fits what we’re looking for here?

Better than Duren and actually solving our problems at the center position are two completely different things. The good thing about Duren at least is that he is young and cheap. If we get Ayton we basically are resigning ourselves to 2 additional years of guaranteed low IQ play at 30+ mill per year. It doesn't solve the issue at all that you guys are speaking to regarding BBIQ. We'd still have a void there at C.

Hopefully Bickerstaff can splice out the exact tweak needed going forward, but from the outside looking in, im ready for Hardaway, Duren to the 2nd unit replaced with Beasley and Stew. Additionally we now need minutes for Ausar(sp) so some flexibility is in order soon.

We generated a ton of great looks in this one. We just didn't hit shots at a high enough rate and the Bulls hit them at a very high rate. That's how it goes sometimes.

Yeah but I’m thinking we’d get a first round pick for Duren and to take on Ayton’s two year contract. I don’t mind accumulating picks to take on contracts, I think people are gonna surprised that’s exactly the next move Trajan will be making. He’s not looking to upgrade the roster just yet, he’s looking to strengthen his picks stash.
