Beef Stew the best rim protector in the league right now...

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Fri Dec 20, 2024 6:24 pm

If you look at all players in the league who have played at least 10 games this season (Chet has played exactly 10) and average at least 20 MPG this season here are the best rim protectors in the league.

1. Chet Holmgren (42.9% allowed at the rim)
2. Isaiah Stewart (43.6% allowed at the rim)
3. Victor Wembanyama (46.3% allowed at the rim)
4. PJ Washington (50.5% allowed at the rim)
5. Brook Lopez (51.0% allowed at the rim)
6. Amen Thompson (52.2% allowed at the rim)
7. Jarren Jackson Jr (52.5% allowed at the rim)
8. Jalen Williams (52.8% allowed at the rim)

Major props to him. Utah doesn't get a 29 point lead in the first with Stew coming in for that bench unit. We're for sure going to miss him out there while he's injured.

I think Stew, Ausar, Holland, Cade, Sasser could be a legitimately good defensive lineup. Probably wouldn't score for crap outside of transition, but I bet they'd shut some teams down.

My god that lineup would be terrible offensively. Three non scorers. Would give the Killian/Cade/Ausar/Stew/Duren lineup a run for its money.

Though, honestly, not that much worse than Cade, Ivey, THJ, Tobias, Duren on nights when they're not hitting any threes.

We are still a bottom 7 offensive team- we don't have a consistently good offensive combination.

There are degrees of bad.

Sure. Transition and streaky 3 point shooting tends to be our best offense, though, outside of Cade (who, to be fair, benefits greatly from the threat of space, which we at least have in our starting lineup and any combo with Beasley, whereas transition is all that defensive lineup offers unless Sasser and Stew are on heaters).

We desperately need a second high level self-creator on offense (preferably one who holds up well defensively).
