If everyone was diving about in crowds with regularity, the problem would soon become apparent. Although I suppose it is now anyway.

I disagree with your analogy. A loose ball is a loose ball whether you're playing soccer or basketball. Do soccer players get red cards when making incidental contact while sliding for a loose ball? No. Nor do basketball players. And nor should they.

The NFL has rules against diving into legs and low blocks specifically because of the types of injuries that can occur. The NBA did clean up "dangerous closeouts" due to jump shooters landing on opponents feet and twisting/rolling ankles so its not out of the question that at some point the NBA will look at putting something in place about diving into another players legs beyond being just a common foul.

Again, intent doesn't matter. You do it, it's a flagrant. Guys will adapt.

Okay. Banning diving for loose balls then is what you are asking for. Got it.

Nope. Dive all you want. You are just responsible if you end up diving into someones legs. This isn't hard no matter how much you pretend it is.

Okay.... Then because Anthony didn't think he would be diving into Ivey's legs this injury wouldn't have been prevented?

Those nfl rules are not analogous to what we're talking about. Those rules don't apply when diving after a fumbled/live ball.

That's because in those situations, that's literally the whole point. The INTENT was to go right at the person's legs. A cb sees a pulling offensive lineman, you dive at his legs to try to clog up the running lanes instead of getting driven back 10 yards or pancaked.

For years the mantra has been when there's a loose ball you gotta be the 1st person on the floor to get it. Everyone will love that type of hustle......until your guy gets hurt.

The moment it happened I began hoping it was a broken bone. Every other possibility suggested long term problems for such an athletic player. Much relief!

There's a re-evaluation in 4 weeks. A good sign.

Sasser isn't a 1 and would like to see him play with Cade... Will Langdon make a trade for a backup 1? If Cade gets intro foul trouble, we have no one.

I don't see that happening.. Just to match salaries, we'd have to give up a lot.
