Ivey had a nice start to the season and then a bit of a lull as far as shooting goes but he was playing very good again just before the injury. Sucks because this was an important year for him to develop under the new coach and also for us to get more chemistry as a unit.

Not sure how much Ivey's loss will actually impact winning/losing but it does feel like we're a bit worse off when Cade sits now.

I can’t definitively speak for anyone else. But I think it’s possible the “re-evaluated in 4 weeks” thing gave hope to some.

I tended to believe the original ESPN report that he’ll miss the season. The “re-evaluated in 4 weeks” thing felt procedural, or like they were trying to ease folks into bad news.

I don't mean come off as somebody who knows more than anybody else here but the moment he was diagnosed with a broken leg, at least I knew right away that his season was over. I was just glad that it wasn't severe ligament damage because in that case, next season and his career for that matter could have been in jeopardy so I was relieved that it was just a broken bone.

Recovery time for fibula surgery is 3-6 months. Assuming all goes well, he'll be well on his way through rehab by april. Playoffs start April 20. Of course, that means he might be cleared to start some basketball activities in April, not that he'll be cleared for 5-on-5 and gotten back into basketball shape. It's highly unlikely he gets back on the court this season, but hopefully he'll he back with the team getting to experience a taste of play-in action.

We've never been the type of team to rush anyone back ever I feel like we are always overly cautious... and if we're good enough to make the playoffs without Ivey its pretty likely we'd just keep playing with the guys that got us there. That said, you are right that its pretty likely he'll be able to shoot baskets and run around by early April.

IMO, Ivey has already proved his point this season before the reckless Cole ended it. How his recovery progresses is anyone's guess, but I want the team to be careful of him. If the Pistons are too good to avoid losing this year's pick, so be it. Hard to root against success.

It’s a non weight bearing bone and he’s had it fixed surgically, so he’s every chance of being 100% fit to play again this season. If it was the tibia it’s a whole different story but fibula is very minor comparatively.
He will be running around on the court non contact in 6 weeks probably.
Having said all that they probably won’t bring him back right at playoff time, because he’ll be completely rusty and the team will have been playing well without him if we made it to playoffs.
