And it terms of offensive creation, we desperately need that in the starting lineup as well as in the bench unit. Cade has obviously taken a big leap this year, but good NBA teams don't just pound the ball through their star on every possession like we are doing. Eventually we are going to need a big upgrade to the 3/4 slot be to be competitive with the good teams, but swapping out harris for a worse player isn't getting us closer to that.

I agree..... I think there's almost no chance (unless we get an offer too good to pass up) we trade Tobias this season. Largely because he actually wanted to be here and sign with us and he has made a difference in terms of playing the right way. He isn't someone out there trying to "get his" he's been deferring to the young guys and is stepping in here and then when needed. His offense has clearly struggled a bunch but his defense has been decent for us.

Was anyone else offering him $25 million/year? He faded in the Sixers 2024 playoffs.
His contract seems tailor-made for bundling with Ja*en, trading for a bigger talent.

Paint chips?

I voiced the same concerns as Uncle Mxy when we signed him. Fast-forward to today and he's having his worst season as a professional. That includes on the defensive end.

His willingness to sign here means absolutely nothing. I would love to sign for the Pistons and be overpaid for what I bring to the table but my willingness to do so doesn't somehow make me more valuable.

He's a negative asset. We'd have to take on worse value in return or give up picks to offset it. I don't see us moving him until next year when he is an expiring contract.

If he continues at his current level of play then I'd much rather see Ausar and Holland take his minutes. It hasn't reached that point yet but we are getting there.

How many starters in the league have been worse than him?

He’s immovable unless you’re taking on a worse contract.

Couldn’t get a bag of those awful lime flavored Lays for him without taking on a longer deal.

He's shooting 43/32 with 6.4 rebounds in 32 minutes a game at the 4. He's 2-way at being bad at both ends.

That's the beauty of trading him to a chip company, they don't have any other NBA players under contract so there's no salary cap implications.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

He's negative value for sure. We'd probably have to take back a large bag of circus peanuts and some rice cakes.

I like Tobias, but still think we ought to sell high -- bundle him in a trade for more/better talent if we can.
He's serviceable, probably should be the lead scorer off the bench at this point, and a movable contract.
I don't want to wait a year and find out we traded him for an injured dude and a 2nd round pick in 2040.

I'm against trading him. I think we need his offensive creation when Cade is off the floor, his veteran leadership is important, and he's been surprisingly effective as a defender and rebounder this season.

Keep him. A vet who willingly defers is giving Vade the space to blossom. Trade him next year's TDL as an expiring in a big package for Cade's Robin.
