Re: #61 - Pistons-Nets - 7pm ET
Like I said earlier, Beasley has us over a barrel, and it’s all about what he wants. If anyone from any other team has been paying attention, he’s going to get a 3/60 offer from somewhere. If we can sign him for that or less, it’s a win, and we should do whatever is necessary to make it happen. It’s not just the ridiculous pressure shooting with accuracy, it’s the willingness to come off the bench, the enthusiasm on and off the court, the swagger, the joy, he’s been amazing.
We’ve had lots of other internal improvements for sure, but I highly doubt this team is over .500 with some average shooter coming off the bench in Beasley’s role.

I think Bease is integral to this team on and off the court. If it takes 3/60 to keep him, you do it.

are we even able to sign Beasley for more than the MLE? I'm assuming we wont have cap space next summer, and we don't have bird rights, but I could be wrong.

You pay Beasley like a mid-level starter because he's going to give you starter caliber production at the offensive end. He's been huge for us in a number of different situations. He loves big moments, has embraced the team and seems to be flourishing in his role. I'd do 3/60 without batting an eye. I wouldn't be shocked if he was offered 3/75.
Keep in mind, these are guys who are already averaging $20+ mil per year on their current contracts; Josh Hart, Alex Caruso, KCP, Bruce Brown, Simons, RJ Barrett, etc. Then you get into the Jordan Poole's & Tyler Herro's of the world making $30+ mil. With the skillset that Beasley bringing, being both ELITE and highly in demand. There are a lot of teams thinking "damn, we could use a guy exactly like that". And he's a crowd favorite.
PAY THE MAN.

Nah, we have the ability to make the space necessary. Just a matter of timing our other moves and possibly extensions.
Don’t think we’ll end up keeping Schroder tho, assuming we don’t abruptly trade Ivey.

I think they let THJ walk and resign Bease to whatever is fair to keep him.

Tobias, THJ, Stew & Schroder are all potentially on the chopping black for salary purposes. Not that they aren't good players or aren't helping us immensely, but we're going to have to figure out the balance. As the team evolves you need the vets less and you start bringing in cheaper contracts to replace them. Eventually we'll start losing pieces out of the core. That's just sorta how it goes. You can't realistically pay Cade, Ausar, Ivey, Duren & Ron IF they all pan out. But we still have a little bit of time to sorta figure out.BadMofoPimp wrote:I think they let THJ walk and resign Bease to whatever is fair to keep him.
The PF thing is weird. Are we hoping one of Ausar/Ron develop into that? If not we still do need another piece and are overly crowded on the wing. We'll see.

I was worried for a bit about his body language and if the defense just locking in on him and forcing him to give it up all the time was going to take a toll on him, but then I saw him on a play where he passed the ball off and it changed hands about three or four more times before ending up in a dunk and Cade was just grinning at the result and it really showed what he's saying there. Dude isn't in it for him and his. He's a true leader and a true team guy. We're lucky to have a franchise star that embodies this spirit.

That was the last day of Killian's 10 day tryout and Nets have chosen not to re-sign him. Very possible his last career game in the NBA will be a loss to the Pistons.

I've been saying this. In todays NBA, you can't have 4/5 all-stars, or borderline all-stars in your starting lineup anymore. So the question becomes, do you move this summer to consolidate? Holland is easily the most movable, as he is the youngest, and to opposing teams, the most upside. (Just how it works)
If you move Holland+Tobias(expiring) and depending on who the team is going for, a pick, there are a ton of players out there to be had, that would fit this team perfectly. If thats the case, and Ivey stays;
Cade
Ivey
Ausar
*insert new player*
Duren
I believe you would have enough to resign Beasley as well, after the trade. As fans, we could be looking at a near contender as early as next season, depending on what happens. Crazy to even think about to be honest.
Same situation could apply with Ivey, but then your either rolling with Harris for another year, starting Holland, or replacing two starters.
Lots of decisions to be made...

Holland doesn’t have nearly the value of Ausar. Seeing what his twin brother can do in a bigger role has teams (including Detroit) drooling. I’m not saying we should or will trade Thompson, but I do know that Holland lost 50% of his value the moment we made the pick (such a horrendous draft in general) and he hasn’t done enough to regain much of that yet. I really like him, though.

Blank check for beasley. He is a historically great 3pt shooter, and critical to provide spacing for Cade. Beasley is a huge part of the reason teams can't just double team Cade every time he dribbles and shut down the entire offense.

Re: #61 - Pistons-Nets - 7pm ET
Detroit's actually got the 2nd most cap space of any team this supper with $24.6 million projected. Only Brooklyn is going to have the ability to give him a bigger offer than Detroit can. Then you have the Bulls who could have $19 million in cap space if they renounce all their FAs including Giddey. I can't really see them going for Beasley though as they are a young team trying to rebuild.
It really could be a tough year for any FA's looking for a payday there just isn't much money out there. Due to this, I think we almost certainly will be able to lock up Beasley on a deal worth about $15 million per year unless he really goes off in the playoffs and is a major reason for us winning a playoff series.
It's interesting, I just looked at some FA rankings and most national media has Beasley ranked lower than upcoming FAs like Chris Paul, Westbrook, Tyus Jones, Cam Thomas, Caris LaVert, Quentin Grimes, DFS, Giddey, and FVV.

Nets letting Killian go. Pistons crushed his ambitions again.
