I personally believe that the difference lies in coaching philosophy, with JB emphasizing steals, but just a great, great video breaking down both of their amazing defensive philosophies, and tendencies.

Ausar 2nd in the league in steals per game since becoming a starter when Ivey went down and Ausar is still only playing about half a game on average so he's right up there with Dyson Daniels on a steals per minute as best in the league. He'll for sure make an all-defensive team next season if he keeps up this level of play and stays healthy.

Nice vid. The narrator already mentions it, but I think it is just entirely team context. We’re using Ausar as a POA defender and Amen is playing closer to the rim. We want fast breaks, Udoka wants better rim protection.

Once Ausar gets more respect from the refs (and maybe thanks to a possible All-NBA defense), he won't get as many fouls called.

He and Stew have been nominated for Defensive Player of the Month

Think he can make all defense this year?

He won't play enough games to even qualify.
