Skill, voice, cadence, etc, all of it is still there and is hall of fame level. But he's blind as a bat and doesn't always know what's going on on the court. Kelser seems to randomly forget what he's saying. Meanwhile they're still both better than Smooth Johnnie.

Those small blunders don’t bother me in the slightest.

My eyes work well and I’m not listening for perfection.

George's catchphrases are one of a kind and his enthusiasm and love of the team really make the game more enjoyable than any other option for me.

I can dig it.
All valid.

This has nothing to do with George/Greg, but I hunt out opposing broadcasts anytime I can. I much prefer listening to the other team. But I like the diversity of opinion and enjoy hearing what other people are saying about both their team and ours.

He just needs time and reps. He has made a few minor changes in his mechanics this year and it just takes time to get the feeling right. Ausar is in the same boat. Ausar's shot actually looks textbook.

It's funny. I was at the Portland game early and Ausar spent his pre-game almost entirely on 2 things:
1. Three point shooting (where half the time no one would throw him the ball.. he kept his hand out waiting so much it was comical)
2. Some ball-handling drills at mid-court just prior to tipoff.

I really wish he would get in the gym with Beasley and THJ if he isn't already and just hoist a few hundred up each session just to get comfortable.

Outside of Cade and Duren (who both practiced for a long time pre-game) other folks were just throwing up half-hearted shots during pregame. I know it's partly just to loosen themselves up but I still wonder why more effort isn't given there typically. For me personally if I am not seeing the shot fall in the pregame due to effort I will be even more uncertain that they would fall when it counted...
I imagine it's because guys had already gotten up hours of shots prior to pregame, and they're already good to go.

I totally understand where you're coming from. The handful of national broadcasts and the various opposing broadcasts that I watch achieve that for me in limited doses.

I'm just a big fan of the nostalgia related to the repetitive sounds of the familiar voice and personality.

George is my favorite but I love Mark Champion, Jim Brandstatter and no list is complete without Ernie Harwell.

I even really liked Rod & Mario before the fallout.

I try opposing broadcasts sometimes but they just don't talk about what's going on with our team consistently enough for me.

I have the NBA Roku App, so I don't get to choose coverage- I typically get the coverage of whoever the home team is.

George and Greg often don't seem to know what's going on. They're likable enough but it is a struggle sometimes. I still prefer them to the majority of opposition broadcasts though, which often range from uninformed to biased to downright obnoxious.

At the end of the day that's a relatively small part of the viewing experience for me though. I tune in for the hoops.

The Rod & Mario fallout was unfortunate. The rotating ex-players is painful.
