There's absolutely no way they're trading Flagg.

That's what people said whenever someone would post a Luka trade scenario.

And those people should have been right if Nico Harrison wasn't such a self-absorbed idiot.

I don't think it's a great idea to alter your perspective of what is possible/plausible based on the Luka trade. It's been universally panned as one of the stupidest GM decisions ever and I don't see that changing even 30 years from now. It's not the norm.

Luka was going to join Lebron and the Lakers no matter what ever offer was out there. AD and the 1st overall was decent compensation for Nico.

Guys like Jordan and Lebron don't get traded almost ever in their primes. Luka isn't quite to that echelon but he's close in terms of production and age. I'm not subscribing to a new norm in which the expectation is that they will be. One person's idiocy does not a trend make.

And sure. You can tin-foil hat this if you want. I'm not inclined to follow you there. Sorry.

This starting lineup plus Schroder, Fontecchio, Sasser, and [insert stretch backup big whom the Pistons would somehow need to acquire] would be lucky to even make the ECF, let alone win a championship. It would have far too little firepower and depth, and Giannis absolutely cannot play with a non-shooter like Ausar. Even if Ausar were to beat the odds and become a reliable shooter, he'd also need to make a prodigious leap as an overall scorer in order to give this rotation even a hope of winning a title. There's pretty much no way for the Pistons to both make a compelling offer for Giannis and build a championship-caliber roster around him.

No offense to you or anyone else, but it surprises me to see how few people are aware of the basic roster requirements for fielding the proper rotation around Giannis. He needs to be on the floor with four reliable shooters at all times.

Lebron revolutionized the NBA market into the 2nd largest domestic entertainment division after the NFL. Whatever makes Lebron happy including a final chance at a Ship, the NBA would be too pleased to help him and the NBA's largest and most profitable market.

They are probably not done yet. Will see whomever else they can fleece with the NBA's help.

I don't think Giannis is traded thisnoff season. Bucks will get one more chance to build around him before Giannis will ask out - which is good for Detroit as it gives young'uns chance to improve and prove themselves as prospects.

The hardest thing about trading him at this point is, they don't own control over their next 6 first round picks (5 after this season)... they either owe the picks outright or have unprotected pick swaps with New Orleans (Jrue) and Portland (Dame).

Hard to hit the reset button to rebuild unless you can get those picks pack. They'd almost need some type of 3 way deal in which they send Giannis to New Orleans and New Orleans sends off Zion to Portland and Portland sends off Jerami Grant to Milwaukee with the Bucks getting their 5 picks back as well.... perhaps Grant going to a 4th team and the Bucks getting mostly cap relief, and young player or two and their 5 picks back.

I’ll be shocked if he wants to stay there. They have no path to improve.

He strikes me as a Damian Lillard type personality in terms of team loyalty. Dame stayed in Portland WAY longer than most stars would have.

I'm not saying it's likely. But I think there's an outside chance. Players don't always see things the way fans do, and they have priorities fans don't always take into account.

Giannis will be more often injured going forward the next 4-5 years?, he'll yurn into an expensive albatross for the next unlucky taker imo.

If you're looking for a major move that has no risk attached to it, then I think major moves aren't your cup of tea.
