Sign and Trade w THJ

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Mon Jun 9, 2025 2:26 am

So if we act as an over the cap team, sign Beasley and Schroder, we could sign and trade THJ. Yea, at first it seems absurd. Who is going to give up something when they could just sign him? But what if a team wants to shed some salary?

For legal trade purposes, if THJ gets up to $7.5 million, we can get back 175% of outgoing salary + $100K. For $7.5M–$29M (getting really absurd), Outgoing salary + $7.5M.

So what team that wants to dump some salary would be willing to take on THJ?

That’s a good angle. You’re our new resident capologist.

LOL. We have a few people that know the cap really well. It just seems like THJ will be the odd man out, but we can leverage him and get another player.

$7.5M * 1.75 + .100 = $13.225M

So if someone were to pay THJ 7.5M, they could dump a salary as high as 13.225M on us. Not expecting a great contract.

If Bobby Portis opts in, he’s just over $13.4M

And the Bucks should be looking to cut salary with Dame being injured.

But can he be signed and traded with Tobias and Fontecchio for Markkanen? Or are you not allowed to combine him with anyone else?

Good question. I got conflicting info when looking it up. I did add it on a CBA thread to see if we can get more info.

Under the current CBA the player being S&T must be for either a 3 or 4 yr contract but only the 1st year must be fully guaranteed? Is that how it still works? Or did it change?
