Well, I decided to let myself watch the ending again. The very ending.

JB drew up a great play. It was for Beasley all the way. And it was executed perfectly. Until....

I like Beasley. He was a great addition to the locker room and had a tremendous regular season. But he was, by far, our most disappointing player of the series. And that was so even without that final play. He was a complete wreck in at least 3 of the 6 games. If he had been shooting at even just a so-so clip in those games, we win the series. And then that final play.... It just can't happen.

That's the thing with Beasley... he's going to be hot some games and win you games with 5-10 or 6-11 type shooting nights and he's going to be cold some nights going 1-9 or similar. It's going to be a mixed bag with a guy who shoots the ball a ton like that. He's worth keeping to backup Ivey if he's making close to $10 million but I wouldn't be excited to give him an above MLE deal. I think he's been great but he also is replacable which is why several teams have moved on from him. Same goes for Schroeder.

Yes... but I'm reminded of Tobias and his experience last year in Philly vs. this year in Detroit.

Tough series but Beasley has been one of our most clutch players all season and even made some big shots in G6. I'm going to continue to ride with that guy. If he implodes multiple years in a row (ala Harden) then maybe I change my tune, but I think this was a big time learning experience for all of our guys.

Interesting theory about Beasley's shooting woes in the playoffs is that he was used to coming off of Beefstew screens a lot in the regular season and had good chemistry there, but that was obviously disrupted with Stew being out. Not sure how much that explains it, but seems like a reasonable factor at least.

He was suffering severe inflammation in his right knee. Brown was mobile despite his meniscus tear (though he played a truly horrible series against the Knicks). Stew could barely get up and down the floor.

Isaiah is as tough as they come, and he's as driven a competitor as they come. If he could have played, he would have played, and I'd imagine that sitting out was torture for him.

It's also worth noting that the decision in these cases comes down to the team doctors, not the player.

Yeah, I'm not about to question Beef Stew's heart!

Definitely not questioning his heart. Or his injury. Wondering why other teams release info like Browns injury but we haven't released anything about his.
I agree it must have been severe inflammation but I never heard a thing about it

The nature of Stew's injury was made clear from the beginning; he missed time at the end of the regular season because of it. It's a common condition, one that really improves only with rest.

I can't speak to why the Celtics kept Brown's injury quiet.
