These pressers mean nothing and are just a bunch of fluff. That's my take on it

How does re-signing older vets make Ivey the odd man out? The Pistons aren't in a position to part with real talent, you can see quite plainly against any team with a pulse that the Pistons struggled on offense with no creators outside of Cade and nobody with blow by ability, we also saw the high level of turnovers especially in 4th quarters when Cade got blitzed because there was no other real offensive threat to hurt the defense. Schroeder filled the role admirably but no opposition is fearing Schroeder, Ivey has the dynamic ability to put fear in defenses and keep them honest when Cade is being double teamed.

I do question the fit of Ivey because we don't have a big enough sample size of him and Cade playing enough games when both are healthy together to really know but I don't see a scenario outside of adding a Booker level talent that makes Ivey the odd man out. The odd man out is THJ, going to be hard to find minutes for him now assuming that Beasley and Schroder are re-signed.

The biggest hole the Pistons have is a starting 4. Tobias tried his best but the reality is that the Pistons are outmatched at the 4 by almost every team, Tobias is just too small and slow to be a starting 4 on a playoff contender.

Stupid to even compare Schroder vs Ivey. They play different positions…and we haven't even seen how they play together yet.

I think people are forgetting who Ivey is…one of the fastest dudes in the league, and he can now hit 3s regularly…his only flaw is his defense, but the dude has the right attitude and work ethic to improve on that.

Another plus is that he actually wants to be here. Trajan said it in the presser, that angle alone is huge when you are not a free agent destination.

I still think he could be our leading scorer and a great Robin to Cades Batman.

Totally agree, except for Tobias. He outplayed my expectations. He even guarded KAT in the playoffs and did reasonably well. That all being said, I do agree PF is still a serious position of need. Do we use Tobias and picks to get an upgrade? Do we get a young, high potential guy to work under Tobias? Do we trade up in the draft and get one? I don’t know but sure hope TL is working on it.

Tobias played his heart out and played well the second half of the season in particular, really manned up against KAT, but the reality is that him at the Starting 4 limits the Pistons ceiling in a league where that's a crucial position especially when you have a starting center who is primarily a rim runner and is inconsistent defensively.
Plus he's a year older now so not sure how much gas is left in the tank. Chances significantly favor him returning and the Pistons largely running it back with him as the Starting 4 but it's a weakness that's going to get exploited more times than not.

Agreed. If he were backup PF, and we pulled off some crazy trade to get a solid PF w range, that would be ideal.

How things are now IMHO

Cade/Schroeder/???
Ivey/Beasley
Ausar/Holland
Tobias/???
Duren/Stew

THJ, Font, Sasser I don’t really care about. 3rd string PG and backup PF we need to fill. And if we get Lauri or something similar, and Tobias gets pushed to the bench, even better.

I'm gut tells me we sneak in the lower bottom of the 1st rd and keep our 37 pick.

Pretty standard GM speak, as is expected with these types of things. Nothing notable here, IMO.

For me, its not really what he said but its how he delivered it.

Even if he's conveying mostly canned type responses, Trajan conveys his words clearly. In other words he's articulate and is able to fluidly converse with the media.

Sure its a low bar to clear, but man coming off the Weaver era its refreshing to see. Troy was a truly terrible communicator. His delivery was mechanical, clunky, and riddled with awkward pauses. He struggled to string together 5 consecutive words that flowed together and made sense.
