Dumars/Weaver make another move

Post#1 » by flow » Tue Jun 24, 2025 7:56 pm

Pelicans trade CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick to the Wiz for Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and the No. 40 pick.

Saddiq back in the fold.

I’ve been saying Tech and Sasser for Kelly O, should be easier now Weaver loves Tech and Sasser and they don’t need Kelly

I kind of get it for both. Poole is much younger and it’s only one more year. CJ adds to the Wizards mix of veterans on expiring contracts, it’s got to be like $90 million (CJ, Smart, and Middleton).

Troy Weaver must really like Saddiq as a player, this is the 3rd time he’s acquired him in some way.

Not a major move, but it kind of makes sense for both with an edge in favor of Washington

Kelly O gives you nothing defensively.

Not a huge fan, but Poole quietly had a pretty nice season and rehabbed some value. 38% from 3 on 9 attempts is nice. Only 26 yr old. He still doesn't play any defense, but he can space the floor for zion.

I just see Kelly o a the stretch five we need, I know he sucks on defense, unless there were injuries I wouldn’t expect him to play even 12 minutes a game consistently, just play Paul reeds role plus 3-6 minutes a week at the PF spot. It’s just one year and I don’t think you can get any better for Sasser and Tech, but Kelly is better than both tech and Reed so it would be an improvement. Plus it’s just one year, it’s very tradeable.

Defended them on the CJ/Poole trade, but sending an unprotected pick to move from 23 to 13 is a choice. A very, thank you for finally firing him Gores, bad choice

This trade only really works out if they got the steal of the draft at 13. Even if they hit a decent 8th guy in the rotation that’s too much to pay need to essentially get at least a 6th man type and future starter for that type of trade.

Weaver is an excellent GM for talent. Both of their picks are solid. You go get your players instead of waiting. His problem is tying draft picks with free agents to field a team. But there's no question he has a eye for talent.

The jury is still out on Langdon in terms of draft. He has been excellent with free agency thus far

It's even worse than just sending an unprotected pick to move up 10 spots. The unprotected pick is the better of NOP/MIL 2026 FRPs, with no protections -- very, very good odds to be a lottery pick in a good draft

Once Wiseman and Bagley end up in their rotation, Weaver will have accomplished his goals. You would have thought Dumars had learned more about what NOT to do by now.
