I’m really down for a preseason fight for the 15th spot, let a couple 4’s go at it, give Tobias a easy preseason, the extra competitiveness will be good, maybe we find a cheap piece, or just fill some SF pace until we get Beasly back, or we just take the best available waived.

Do we still have Dawson Garcia , give him some competition for the spot. Battle it out

I’m at the point where we just let Tolu and Bobi take whatever extra minutes we have and see if we have anything there.

Unless someone surprising gets cut free. I kind of like the idea of someone like Kyle Anderson as a depth piece. Just an example

Isaac Bonga is he signed if we don’t sign Beasley I don’t know why we wouldn’t give him a try if he’s available.

The FO left the 15th spot open until the deadline last season. It might remain unfilled at season's start.

I'm afraid the jury is in on Bobi. He's a non-asset for the Pistons. In fact, I would say he will be out of the league in short order. He lacks athleticism and offers nothing on either end. His vaunted 3 point shot is overrated. For a big man, he can't play D or rebound. He should be packaged as tradebait.

Yeah, Bobi was a long shot. He's smart, he's a good passer, and he's got shooting upside, but he's got a crap first step and poor overall athleticism and will always struggle to create anything off the dribble. That includes even attacking closeouts -- which is a mandatory skill for perimeter players these days -- because he's too slow to blitz through open lanes and truly sucks at scoring through contact. That poor athleticism is a similar handicap on defense, because he's pretty much screwed if he gets a step behind anyone or gets switched onto a fast guard. That he shot so badly in the G-League last season is also not encouraging.

He was second-round project player, and those pan out far less often than they don't.

I know I liked it a year ago, but now I think we could be in a really good spot with a weak east to start the year, we should continue to tighten up the ends. Sign Beasly, trade Klitman for Kyle Anderson, he can play the whole frontcourt and be a ball handler, it backs up a lot, and will make it a lot easier to make a trade in February. Then maybe sign Bonga for the last 30 games and the playoffs see if he can crack the rotation.
I still think we move Ivey and Duncan for Zion or another PF in February. I know the shooting might be lacking from the roster, but he’s a clear 2nd option for a couple seasons in a position of need. He would be a new character in the east and a little bit more of a headache in the playoffs for Giannis, Paskal, Pablo, and KAT.@

The odds of Duren getting moved are astronomically low. He is great friends with Cade, who is the franchise player, and the two make up the best lob duo in the league.

If there is a path, to clearly upgrade the team, it's something to look at, but Zion isn't an answer, if you have to move Ivey and Duren. Besides that, I don't think Zion has even close to that kind of value right now anyway.

The PF trade will be Ivey, Harris, salary balast and FRP's and pick swaps.

The odds of Duren being moved at the deadline are not low at all if he has not made a substantial defensive leap. Should that improvement not be forthcoming, then the odds of it ever happening drop from low to extremely low. As things stand, he's bad at the most important skill for a traditional center. It's hard enough to win in the postseason if your strong offensive center is bad defensively, and Duren is only the latter and not the former.

That package would need to return a pretty damned good PF, and we're not talking an assisted gunner like Markkanen.

That's an off-ball #3 option and a washed-up, sub-NBA-caliber role player. How do you figure that's a good return on a promising prospect, tying up the team's picks, and locking the FO out of making a better trade?

I think Duncan, Ivey, and a late 1st is pretty fair for Zion. I don’t love him by any means, but I think it is a talent upgrade and we keep the real core of Cade, Ron, Ausar, and the center Duo together long term and build around that flipping Zion just a couple years down the road. I think Ivey wants more than we’re going to have for him in many ways; Zion as well but he’s a PF so it’s easier. In a lot of ways my complaints I have about Ivey, would be exactly the same complaints I’d have about Zion but I think it would be better for Ron, Ausar, and Cade if Ivey would be secondary to them at that’s not going to happen, at least Zion plays another position, that much of these young guys don’t. I’m very high on the idea of 1-3 being Cade,Ausar, and Ron 32+ minutes by (26-27)next season, to do that you have to allocate the money Ivey wants to the PF position, for me right now that’s Zion, two years from now he could be Coulibaly, Barnes, Buzelis, or Risarcher just depends how good Cade makes him look. There’s a short term chance at punching the east while it’s down and raising your guys ceiling early with high end exposure games, also possibly raising his value and moving him for a role 4man and future assets. I don’t think we get past or to the ECF with how we are currently going to fill those 48 minutes from now to the playoffs. Zion is a upgrade we still have
Cade, Ausar, Lavert, Ron, presumably Beasly to fill 144 minutes, if Ron’s in your basically giving 100 minutes him cade, and Ausar, leaving 44 for Beasly and Lavert and Sasser the 4/5 would be covered with Duran/Stew/Reed. Tobias/Zion.
I think it has a higher Playoff ceiling, than Ivey becoming a 24 point a game scorer and I’m not sure that’s happening

I mean, I'd do that only if Cade/Ivey doesn't work as much as expected AND will not send more than 2 picks + 1 swap.
Hell, Love ain't the player he used to be but he can still be a good veteran presence with Finals experience and we will need that, not really his on-court production.

If Ivey is doing poorly, then the Jazz aren't likely to be all that interested in him. Two picks and a swap still locks the Pistons out of making a bigger trade for a while.

Aging veterans the likes of Love are rarely happy stapled to the bench on a non-contender, which is what the Pistons are very likely to be.

Holland is Harris heir apparent. He will backup and eventually replace Harris. Auser can play any position, so option there as well.

And if we want to go double big, Stew can play there alongside Duren for small stretches. Reed may get some minutes as well. Hell, Duncan may get some stretch 4 minutes as well. We good. I just want Beasley back though, to really clog up the guard minutes
