Celtics Fans on these boards...

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Tue Jan 8, 2008 9:38 am

:noway: :noway: :noway: :noway: :noway: :noway:

For year's they've been terrible... we had beat them 17 of the last 20 and now they win one and they're kings of the world.

They are in for a rude awakening when the playoffs come.

How many NBA finals games have Allen, KG, and Pierce played in?

How many have our starting 5 played in?

How many big game 7's?

What a bunch of epic ****tards!

Let 'em have their fun and/or ignore them. They haven't had much to be happy about since the Bird era.

Did you really expect anything different? Boston is know as the #1 arrogant fan in all of sports. Look at Baseball you would think that baseball started after there 1st World Series win a few years ago. Now after being the door stops of Baseball they think there poo don't stink. Same thing with there football team and the teams Before Brady. Now that a MICHIGAN man had to resurrected them they think football was invented by them. Fact is for the last 90 years except the Celtics all Boston teams were more like there hockey team is today.

Yea, they can be quite annoying, but remember that their board is huge; i think its prolly top 3 around here with Toronto and maybe Chicago (?). Either way when you have sooo many posters you are bound to get annoying 14 year olds who come over to wreak havoc. But im sure they have some very good posters over there too.

But yea, i know where you are coming from

I saw more things that annoyed me from Pistons fans than Boston fans in our game thread.

I guess I'm just not nuanced enough to pick up on this arrogance of Boston fans you keep harping on. :dontknow:

It's completely absurd (and inappropriate in my opinion) to lump all the fans of one team into the same category anyway. Yeah, a majority of Celtics fans come from the same area of the US, but they are different ages, race, gender, social class, political affiliations, ontological views, etc.

That's not the attitude I got from most of them. They were happy to pick up a victory against a team they feel are their equals in talent. Some people in Boston's forum still felt Detroit was better.

They are in for a rude awakening when the playoffs come.
If you consider a hard-fought ECF to be a rude awakening, then I agree with you.

How many NBA finals games had our starters played in before beating the Lakers? Does it matter? Boston has a great, exciting team this year. I'd be excited if I were a Boston fan - ESPECIALLY since they've had such a rough time of it since Acie Earl was dominating the low post.

What a bunch of epic ****tards!
This is my favorite line of the post. I, too like to call my foes a bunch of epic ****tards when trying to contrast their arrogance to my humility.

Since we're airing our grievances - It's Festivus!! - get over yourself already GenshiYagyu. Yeah we get it you're better than all of us, more civilized and more self-actualized. I don't know what your deal it, and I don't care. I get the feeling you are somebodies gimmick account - if you are really that over the top with your holier than thou attitude I truely feel sorry for you and everybody around you. Give it a rest - it's friggin annoying. This is a sports board, not the Peace and Love Council of the UN.
Rip Hamilton is a stain on the Pistons franchise.

QFT

A bigger board means more spillover onto other boards during big games.

They probably do have some good posters over there, but if they do, the majority of them wisely stay on their boards, just as the good posters on our boards do.

In any event, its pretty sad that so many people have nothing better to do than come onto another teams board and bicker with our posters, though I dont really see the need to engage them.

Trolls crave on thing, and thats a response, ANY RESPONSE, and we'd do well not to supply them with that. It may not be fair that they can come onto our board with relative impunity (at least compared to the treatment we'd get with the situations reversed) but it is what it is. We cant control other boards' policies.

In any event, I agree with every part of bstein's post, and wish theyd go away, but as Im sure all of you will agree, I grow tired of pointlessly debating credentials with arrogant Boston fans, and reading others doing so. Theres nothing to gain and a whole lot of potential for annoyance.

It sort of reminds me of all the "enthusiastic" Heat fans who joined after the Shaq trade.

I don't mind it too much- they are on a high right now. The tables can always turn though; next time we beat them, we can just send ol' Nasty over to their board to post the box score. Right Nasty?

and they arrive :) just kiding i just wanted to say that it is true we have some posters that can be obnoxious, every board does. I think the problem with a lot of the "trolling" posters is thay they misconstru humbleness for arrogance and I try not to take part in it. I am excited to be a boston fan right now, but i have been a c's fan since the 80's so maybe i am happy with them just being good. I hope we can re-ignite the rivarly but at the same time keep it bball and nothing more.
btw many of mature posters do realize that the pistons are where we are trying to get to. Most of the real bball posters model themselves after our team in which our captain says and kg says "the pistons are the best team in the east. they are who we want to mirror they have proved anythinG and everything" so I hope u guys do not clump all of us tpgether.
The advice I gave my fellow posters is simple "until further notice the spurs are the only team who can talk anything because they have the ring right now. The posters on there do not rub anything in other peoples faces they just win and enjoy winning." I am hoping that the "trolling" posters can emulate that same behavior.
Good luck the rest of the season

No, you're probably right. I'll start hating a complete demographic for no good reason at all.

Exactly. Don't respond and they'll go away.

And it is indeed 'relative impunity;' I bust people for violations of the TOS, not for being annoying, no matter what goes on on the boards they came from. That's part of my whole 'higher standard' thing. But I can assure everyone that I did indeed spend time to go through the entire thread and take appropriate action where it was called for.

Now that this thread has been open long enough for those interested in airing grievances to do so and before being overrun with Round Two-ers, I'm locking it. I don't want it to foster a divisive atmosphere.

And please--if you feel someone's behavior is questionable REPORT IT. That helps justify my case when taking action where needed.
