Flip has No Clue
I know that you all think it is great that we are 26-8, but lets be real. The Celtics game and tonight require good coaching to win and Flip just does not make the cut.
Pistons were up 22-12 at the end of the First Quarter against the C's and we could not figure out how to put them away at home...That is weak and bad coaching... Reminiscent of the Cav series...
Now tonight we are in Big D...Should be a big comeback game and presently we are losing 82-65... Dirk is beating us on both ends... Walter Hermann comes in the 2nd Q and does a good job on Dirk... Instead of letting him come back and play in the 2nd half he has sat on the bench... Avery Johnson is making one adjustment after another and Flip just sits there absent minded....
The dude is clueless... Down 15 there is no way Flip can help us beat this one...

yep.....Herrmann should have been in the game about half way through the 3rd....also, Rasheed shoud have been benched. He hasn't made a single good defensive play all game except for collecting uncontested rebounds and Prince should have been yanked in favor of Hayes/Afflalo.
Starters got raped in the 1st, bench helped bring the game back in the 2nd, and starters proceed bending over in the 3rd. Chalk up another loss in SAS!

That Boston loss was not on Flip Saunders. Being up 12 in the 2nd was great and then the bench came in (which everyone is always begging should play) and they helped give up the lead. After that, the game was full of extremely bad decision making, you think Saunders diagrammed a play that allowed Chauncey to airball a three in crunch time? Did he tell Stuckey to fumble a pass in traffic? Or Rip to play ISO ball. When the game is close- some players try to be heroes (especially Chauncey) and unfortunately that allows for some pretty dumb plays down the stretch.
Now, this game is partially on Saunders but its also on teh players. They havent played since Sunday, why did they come out so bad, they should have been well rested and energized. Yes- I definately agree that Saunders substitions are questionable at best but if Chauncey, Dice, Sheed, Tay played liked they cared Detroit wouldnt be getting blout out right now

Oh here we go again with these fire flip threads. We win a dozen games in a row and the guy gets zero credit, we lose a couple and we bust out the "fire flip" threads.
Give it a rest man. You cant win every game WTF, good teams lose to good teams. Give him a chance and I believe this year he will get us to the finals.

It's not about winning regular season games. It's about winning titles. This team has all of the bad habits of the last 2 Pistons teams. In blowouts they're great, but when they're facing decent teams and they get down they look clueless out there. They force up bad shots, and just seem to give up.
Put a little pressure on Chauncey and drive to the rim on us. That was our ticket out of the playoffs the last 2 years, and that will be how we lose this year. Flip is just not capable of adjusting. He's the only coach on the planet that will not tell his players to "DRIVE TO THE RIM". Flip is just content with letting them brick jumper after jumper and blaming the loss on "not hitting shots".
Same story, different year. Now we've just got a great bench that's being underutilized, not a mediocre one.

Hey, you can't blame the coach in a blowout loss. That's on the players. The coach takes the blame in a six point game. That's when his decisions were crucial. But a blowout? That's them not being competitive. You're telling me the players can't adjust to what's going on in the game? You think this is a video game? They make decisions too. Once the ball goes up the coach's only real power is substitutions.

^ I disagree, it was Flips decision to keep the starters in the entire third quarter when a reasonable game became a 20 pt blowout and Flip made ZERO adjustments or substitutions. You see Chauncey isn't doing anything, you see Sheed not even defending his man, you don't even notice Tay out there.... PULL THEIR ASSES! Same problems, different year.... same damn coach.

I'm sorry, but Larry Brown had almost the exact same problems. Notice when he came in, bench minutes for Corliss went down? Larry relied on the starters just as much as Flip does, which is why they are so burnt out now.
Besides, in a close game, you play your starters, and if they let you down, then it's not a game you're going to win. Besides, if wins and losses aren't supposed to mean anything to us, shouldn't we be glad it turned into a blowout so our bench for more playing time? As long as we make the playoffs, and keep our starters low on minutes (only two starters went barely over 30, while five bench players played nearly 13 minutes or more), it shouldn't matter.
The bench is playing, which is what everyone wanted. Please calm down.
