Hermann/Hayes
I know that a lot of people on this board are calling for him to get some playing time. I have seen almost every game and do not see what the fuss is about. He can shoot the ball alright and can play physical d. But lets face it if the bobcats are willing to give up on him for nazr... seriously? I have seen him play and when hes in there we are playing against there second and third stringers anyone can look good in that case.
After all his aquisition was to free up cap space and get rid of a bad contract so we can puruse in the free agent market. I would not be willing to take away minutes from Hayes to "see what he could do" Hayes has played well and his shot give us a great dimension to our offense. I know a lot of people dont care for him but he is a more than capeable backup three in this league and i believe we made a great move in bringing him in.

Hayes got lazy when his spot was secured. When Herrmann got activated and Flip suggested he would play, Jarvis all of a sudden found his shot. As soon as Flip told the media that Herrmann was more of a PF and would be used as such, Jarvis lost his shot again. I would keep Herrmann on the bench and used in sparse minutes just to keep Hayes on his game. I'm not saying Walter should be the full time SF backup, but if Herrmann being an option pushes Hayes to actually produce, I see nothing wrong with it.

Hayes is playing for a contract so I don't know why he would become lazy and think his spot is secured. If having Hermann behind him is motivating him to play well, shouldn't the reward of a big contract (For him) supercede that?
Hayes is what he is, a streaky shooter. He's no different than Delfino. He'll have a series of good games followed by a stretch of games where he doesn't play that well.

I like Chill, tried trading for him a few times on these boards. Would love to have him on the team. He can play both the 2 and 3 and is extremely efficient with the ball. Always shoots over 50% which is awesome for the positions he plays.
I don't think we could get him for the MLE though. Atlanta has J Smith needing to be signed to big money but I still don't think they would let a valuable asset like Chill leave if he is only an MLE contract.

This is Atlanta we are talking about... you know, the team that gift wrapped Rasheed Wallace for us...

They may have gift wrapped him (they never intended on keeping him anyway) but they got a present back as well and freed up a good amount of money to boot. That deal was a big part of them starting a rebuild. They got Josh Smith and then JJ and have been building friom that. I suppose you can hope that they let Chill walk instead of coughing up the MLE but I would think at the very least they would try to do a S&T to get a C or a more savvy PG.
Time will tell.

If only you could get a C for a backup SG. Wouldnt we have traded for him since we had a C to trade?

I don't think Nazr's contract was appealing to them however. If they wanted him and offered Chill then Hermann/Brezec would not be Pistons right now. After seeing him in Charlotte I bet they wish they would have made a move for him.
