We need to make a move!!!!

Post#1 » by JMLS2877 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 3:22 pm

I am watching the moves the contenders in the west made and then I am seeing the Pistons lose badly to Orlando and Milwaukee. I know they almost came back, but you can not lose to a team like Milwaukee.

The Pistons have won three titles. Two out of the three times they won a title they made a deadline deal, and I am not sure they did not make a deadline deal in 1990.

1989 the Pistons were cruising however trader Jack knew there needed to be something else to get them over the top so he traded Adrian Dantley for Mark Aguirre... The Pistons sweep the Lakers to win their first title...

2004 the Pistons were in the weak East and had Darko Milic a second round pick not doing anything.... Rasheed Wallace becomes available, Joe gets creative and Rasheed helps push the Pistons over the top and they beat a heavily favored Laker team....

Turn to 2008... The Lakers make a deal to get Gasol... They looked smooth last night... The Spurs make a deal to get Kurt Thomas... The Mavs make a deal to get Jason Kidd.... The Suns make a deal to get Shaq... The Celtics got Garnett in the off season... The Pistons have lost the last two years in the Eastern Conference Finals...

The stones need one more player to get them over the top. The time to win is now. Rasheed, Chauncey and Rip aren't getting any younger...

Joe please make a move....

"All the cool kids are doing it!"

There's absolutely NO deals out there that would improve us. I know that if Joe doesn't make a move, it's not because he doesn't want to, but rather because there are no good ones out there. People are going to try and rape our franchise with a bad trade. Rasheed Wallace was a once every 5 years type trade: trash-for-talent.

I say we stand pat, and for once try to have faith in our youth. I like how certain people at the end of last year said we needed talented youth, yet come the regular season, they're now wanting experience. I'll take talent over experience any day of the week.

The only move we needed to make was the one for Kurt Thomas..... but San Antonio got it done first.

(and considering how good SAS' judgment usually is, I think in retrospect it proves it was the best move).

As of now we're going to have to rely on Maxy and Amir to do the dirty work inside.

ANd yes I woulda traded McDyess and expirings for him (though if Seattle woulda bit, who knows, probably not).

Sheed/Thomas/Maxiell with Amir in the background, is just a sick frontline for us from a defensive standpoint.

We're planning on relying on three rookies, Maxey and Arvis Hayes as our bench?

How isn't he? He's only played in 47 games his ENTIRE career.
Arron Afflalo has already been in 51, and he is a rookie.
Think about it.

imo JoeD did not make a move because he wants to be better prepared for tomorrow . The experience gained for stuckey, amir, aaron, & maxiell outweighs making a title run with experienced & needed peices.

With all these lop-sided trades, veterans being traded for 1st rd picks / being cut, opportunity to sign cwebb, joed's had plenty of moves to make & still does with 3 hours left

We do have a chance of winning a title. I'm just praying the west beats the living **** outta each other. While we show hunger in the playoffs, not taking any games for granted, coasting through the 1st 2 rds, & then showing chemistry & experience win games over big names & hype
edit: after beating the C's , get lucky against the hopefully mentally & physically tired west finalist

We don't "have" to make a move, but I'm certainly dreaming of a few. I'm sure Joe D is on the phones right now - sounds pretty exciting.

Gerald Greene to Houston? Ben Wallace, Duhon and others to Cavs for Larry Hughes and others? What will Pistons do? I am not saying its time for us as Pistons fans to panic but we do need to improve our bench. I am not hoping for a blow up of our team but I am hoping to hear something later this evening.

Well its pretty obvious that we didn't make a move, now a half hour past the deadline and not even one word of any talks.

I guess I'm not too disappointed...

I always wonder who Dumars talked to and what names were mentioned. I wonder what offers got turned down.

If there was a chance that we could get him IMO we would be favourites to win the east, but saying that i don't think that we will get him.

Oh we made a move alright. Regardless of how useless he was at least Primoz was a big. Dare I say, worse trade done by Dumars yet just out of sheer pointlessness.

I didn't want a trade unless it was for Kurt Thomas. But I didn't think that he was available.

Then Spurs got Kurt Thomas and I wanted to make a move.

I no want no mo moooves n-mo

Herrmann better play an active role in the play-offs and our first round pick in 2009 better be a doozy...

Then again, maybe Joe knows that he's going to blow this team up if we don't make it to the finals this year and thus the 2009 first rounder is an unknown. Seattle didn't want this years first because they already have their own and PHX'.
