The only way Cleveland could move Hughes' terrible contract was to take back Ben's equally terrible contract.

It will be interesting to see how minutes are divided at the PF/C spots. I'm not sure Ben will get more than 24-26 MPG. Smith deserves just as much if not more playing time than Ben.

How can you all not see the potential HORROR in this equation (Ben + Cavs)?

I can't help but to have a healthy concern for Ben being added to the Cavs...
Chicago lacked the personnel to allow Ben to be Ben. His surroundings were... uninspiring.
It wasn't difficult to see that the Bulls were going nowhere. Notwithstanding the complete (understandable and well deserved) lack of love, and disdain the fans and media consistently doled out.

Cleveland, however, is managed by one of the HUGEST fans of our illustrious team (well, enough of one to make an offer for partial ownership), who closely observed Ben while on this team.
... I said all of this to say that while its certain that he's declining, Chicago didn't get close to extracting what is still inside of him. They didn't know how.

Now, I'm not sure if that fire still burns in Ben... None of us do; it's only something that we'll discover in time, but as longtime fans of these Pistons, we all know what an inspired Ben is capable of.

Unfortunately for us, so does Dan Gilbert.

He can be inspired all he wants, but at the end of the day he's still 33 years old with a steady decline in his numbers over the last three years.

If he's not inspired making $15,000,000 a year, shame on him.
