You could only claim him if you had cap space available. I believe you can use trade exemptions though, so if any front runner had a big enough TE they could use it to claim him.

Lue is best buddies with Billups...

I actually like Lue and would much rather have him than Dixon. But it's safe to say we won't be persuing him and he'd probably rather go someplace where he'd get more playing time.

The Boston Celtics hope they have the last piece of the championship puzzle with the signing of veteran Sam Cassell.

The Celtics made the deal official on Tuesday afternoon after he passed a physical. Terms of the agreement were not released, per team policy.

Cassell will attend the Celtics shootaround Wednesday morning, but isn't expected to play when they host the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night."I'm in no hurry," coach Doc Rivers said after practice Tuesday. "We'll have some time to work on things in the next few days."

The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed guard Sam Cassell. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cassell, a 6'3", 193 pound guard, is in his 15th season in the NBA. Cassell was averaging 12.8 points and 4.7 assists in 25.4 minutes per game this season for the Los Angeles Clippers in 38 games. The former All-Star has appeared in 115 career post-season games and has posted career averages of 13.6 points and 4.9 assists in his playoff career. Cassell has posted career averages of 15.9 points, 6.0 assists and 1.07 steals in 976 career games.
