Drummond is only 19yo

Drummond is so young.
Knight is only 21 himself.

Patience, patience, patience is all we need. Long term plans. Make trades that keep these guys excited about the process.

When these two hit their peaks in 5 years they will be an incredible tandem. Add Monroe as a glue guy, and we've really got a championship team in the billing. Joe should wait and get his pieces in line to get a top 3 wing in the next three years. Don't settle for a top 7 guy now.

As long as we get a top 3 wing without tanking, I agree with you...

I think the Pistons have one go to scorer on their team right now - Knight. He's showing signs at this young stage of his career of being a guy who can be a top flight offensive scorer.

I think the team needs to find one more super scorer to become a top team (a few years in the future, when Monroe, Drummond and Knight are starting to reach their young prime years - 24-26 years old). We have some guys who should/could be excellent scoring glue guys - Singler, English and Middleton, but it would be pretty surprising if any of them develops into a wind-em-up they'll put 20-30 on you every game, player for us.

The super scorer we need to get has to be a relatively unselfish player, and a guy who doesn't need the ball in his hands all the time.

Also the NBA is a grown mans league and it's a physical grind. With a whole lot of bigs getting chronic injuries these days I don't think limiting Drummond's minutes is the worst thing. Let him grow into his body as if he was playing a couple more years of college and their shorter schedule and smaller players.

Who is a top three (may not be there yet) wing you'd be willing to give a max contract to in the next three years? That should determine how we structure our future contracts.

It would be wise in my opinion to sign vets (like we did with Tmac) for one or two year deals until we get our guy. that way we won't be tied down with BG, CV or Rip type contracts.

I wish we had Tmac on our team right now over Bynum and Maggete!
