English to play soon?

Post#1 » by AnnArborpiston » Tue Dec 11, 2012 1:00 pm

I'm guessing if Singler's production doesn't increase int he next three games, then we might start seeing Singler English back in the rotation.

Singler should still start, but only play 18-22 minutes. Give 15 minutes to English, and play Singler at the 3 a little (cutting down Maggette's minutes)

Someone is going to get injured along the way, so I hope English and Middleton are ready to take the minutes instead of Bynum.

I'd like to see English start, but I know Frank would probably never do that. But Singler is totally drained and needs a lesser role for a little while to recharge. It wouldn't make sense to put Stuckey back in the starting lineup now that he's playing so well off the bench. So starting English and then giving Maggette's spot to Singler makes a lot of sense.

English is kind of similar game to Singler too, and since he's fresh he could probably give us the same things Singler was before when he was still fresh. Right now Singler needs a rest, he can't help much with no energy as thats most of his game - energy guy.

They could continue to start Singler but cut his minutes to allow English sometime. I like Singler's poise and his ability to play without the ball. Since they don't run plays for him is his diminished production due to decreased ball movement? I do like the idea of cutting Maggette's minutes.

English reminds me nothing of those players. He's our second best shooter behind Middleton, and good bball IQ. Just needs to adjust to the speed of the game. Also Sharpe was a first rounder

I agree that there is no reason to annoint English as a guy who is a poor mans Micheal Redd or better than Arron Afflalo. I wasn't too impressed with Kim in the few games that he played, his defense was terrible and he made silly fouls. I would prefer him to Maggette but thats not saying much.

If English can be a guy who can fill a Kyle Korver role and hit the 3 in limited minutes, Id be ecstatic but Im not expecting much from him.

I like Middleton. He is a true 1st round talent.

We traded a 1st for 2 2nds and one was Sharpe. Still this board has always had an obssesion with 2nd rd pick rookies. They were all borderline HoFers that just needed a few more mpg to show everyone that they were allstars but the stupid coach who watched them everyday in practice couldnt see how they were better Kobe, Shaq, Hakeem, Bird, DrJ, Wade, Nique and Magic.

Middleton by all indication is a first round talent hampered by injury. So hype around him is somewhat justified. i still think if you can shoot the ball which english in the few minutes he's played has shown he can. there's a place for him on this team and/or in the league. Will he become our future allstar sg, probably not

No one said they'll be HOFers, but its not out of the question for them to be solid rotation players.

English was not the starting SG for U of Missouri. He wasnt the teams best 3pt shooter or wing defender. i like the kid and love to hear him speak but lets get serious.

Maybe he can be a solid rotation player in 3yrs. Hes a rookie 2nd rd pick. Go look at the rest of the league and find out how many 2nd rd rookies are starting.

One is on our team:
Singler, Crowder, Taylor are all starting this year.

Last year:
Parsons and Thomas

2010:
Landry Fields

Its actually not as rare as you think.

English was not the staring SG. He was the starting PF, which is a testament to his willingness to put in the dirty work for the betterment of the team. He shot 46% from three in his senior year which was a leap from shooting 37% from three in his previous three years.

He can shoot. We can use a shooter with his ability to stretch the defense who also plays hard on the defensive end. He can perhaps develop into a Kyle Korver/Jason Kapone type for us.

I would love to give English a shot. He is a far superior shooter and defender than Maggs, who is currently the backup SG. I think English can be that "3 and D" 5th option type player and I wouldn't mind giving him a shot at the starting spot like Singler got.

Kim and Khris to the Mad Ants. I look forward to seeing what they can do with some burn.
