NY/DET

Post#1 » by retrolenny » Sun Dec 23, 2012 10:34 pm

This trade makes a lot of sense to me.. Thoughts??

NY Out:
Marcus Camby
Iman Shumpert

DET Out:
Jason Maxiell
Austin Daye
Future lottery protected 1st

This trade makes some decent sense to me. Camby is 38 years old and has 2 years left of his contract but he is a defensive specialist and can mentor AD. Shumpert played well last season but hasn't played a minute this year due to injury. We would have to take on Camby's contract but at least he's serviceable and not a head case!!! Thoughts??

Knight/Stuck
Shumpert/Stuck
Prince/Singler
Moose/CV
AD/Camby

New York wouldn't do that. They have enough depth up front (Tyson, Amare, Sheed, Thomas, Camby), and at the forward spots (Melo, Copeland, Novak), and need/want an athletic perimeter defender. They already have a promising one in Shump, so why part with him? They want to win now.

And for Detroit... Why on earth are we giving up another away another future 1st for a (good defensive) role player and a dusty skeleton with a two year deal? It doesn't add up.

Bad trade IMO.

We'd be taking on some pretty big salary in Camby (7 min/game) and giving up serviceable PF in Maxiell (expiring) to get Shumpert and use Camby as a mentor. I'm certainly not giving up a 1st for Camby!!!

We could bring in Ben to mentor Drummond and give up nothing and for a lot less money.

If you're giving up a 1st and expirings you might as well target someone good like Bledsoe or something not freaking Shumpert.

It's obviously quite clear that I am horrendous at playing GM. Regardless of how bad I am at this, I still love my crappy Detroit Pistons!

I might suck at GM but Drummond will be the best 5 in the league before he's 23 years old. Mark my words on this!! Btw, I have to give Jodi props. From the beginning of last year, he called that Det would get him and he said he would be a beast. I had my doubts but I'm a BIG believer now. I think he would be a run away candidate for ROY if he got the playing time. He has his deer in the headlight moments but for the most part he is a dominating force out there.

I feel VERY confident that 2 things will happen before the trade deadline.. 1) Maxiell will be shipped out so AD can start. 2) Ben Wallace is coming back to mentor him an will be the backup center off the bench.

Det Trades: Max, Singler, Stuckey
Det Receives: Gordon, Darius Miller

This is a trade I am hoping for...

Knight/Bynum
Gordon/English
Prince/Miller/Daye,JJ,Middleton, or Mags
Moose/CV
AD/Wallace/Slava

Shumpert was offered to Phx last draft night but he was hurt. I dont know his current trade status. Seems like NY might be more interested in Prince than Max. besides the Knicks dont value expireings like other teams do.

You don't suck as a GM bro...You win some and you lose some...Now back to your post, I hope that trade happens too...But why is it that I'm the only one that wants to keep Stuckey as our 6th man...I really believe Stuckey can be our Vinnie Johnson on steroids...I want to see us trade Spaghetti, Singler, and Jerebko to the Hornets for Gordon...I think a Knight/Gordon/Stuckey rotation could be extremely dangerous....

Jodi, you're not alone wanting to keep R.S. as the swing guard... you gotta know that no team is trading 3 4 1 these days... and we need to make sure Gordon is back to his old self.... is the price right in the new NBA economy?
This should be the last year of major roster turn over... looking forward to next year with minor player adjustments and building consistency.

Come on man, you can't forget that I called Drummond coming to Detroit as well, anyway on the thread, I would do this trade 10/10 times, I love shumperts game, defensive and can do a little of everything, I think running a backcourt of knight/shumpert can be leathal on both sides. I would love to get our hands on Shumpert, i find his
game like Wade's

Jodi, I actually LOVE Stuckey. I think if someone tells him he's the man and that this is his team that he can really excel. He has shown the ability to totally dominate out there, get's to the line effortlessly, clan play D, distribute the ball, and flat out light it up when he wants to. The reason why I threw him into the trade is because there is NO WAY N.O. is just going to give away Gordon. Stuckey & Gordon are similar players. The primary difference is one knows he's the man and the other doesn't even know his role. I'd LOVE to find a way to make this trade and keep Stuck but I highly doubt that is a possibility!!!

Detroit doesn't need Shumpert. If Detroit did a deal with NYK sending them Prince would make the most sense. I dont see a deal there though.
