Pretty much what I told Snakebites 2 years ago and nothing has made me think otherwise yet.

Both of us were prophetic in a way if you recall the 1st Dre sig to hit the boards was a mock up I did of him in a Piston Uni part way into his season at U Conn.

Just glad he is a Piston as he mos def makes the games so much more fun to watch. :D

I do recall that signature. I rocked it for much of last season.

Big Defensive Amare is a Top 20 player of all time and call me a homer, but he has that potential.

I think that internally they realize it but just make a concerted effort to under rate him. Possibly because they want to hype up their own rookies, or maybe to try and justify their GM passing him.

Either way...he's been better than any rookie outside of Lillard, Davis and MKG and the only reason the latter two have been "better" are due to extended mins. Dre is arguably the most impactful player given his limited mins.

I would argue that Dre is #2 behind Lillard but if this draft was done over again and Det had the #1 pick then knowing then what we know now, Dre would be the #1 pick in the draft. He just turned 18 years old and he impacts a game more than any of the players who were picked before him, Lilliard included. The difference is Lilliard & Davis were given the keys to their respective teams and told to run with it. Drummond has done everything by being a force defensively on less than 20 min per game. His play and his impact is more profound than Lilliard or Davis but doesn't get the recognition because he's playing 20min less per game.

Yep. We have wondered about Drummond's conditioning. But this was after five days off. Maxiell's decent games trump Drummond's great games. I'm having a hard time believing that Maxiell's veteran intangibles are really more valuable than Drummond's production.

The Pistons have won 7 of 9, and were damn close to 9 in a row.

Whatever Coach Frank is doing is working, and Drummond is coming along fantastically. He's got the 16th best PER in league right now, and climbing. So are his minutes per game - definitely on an upward ark as the season goes along. (It's hard to argue with his minutes last night as the starters were playing fantastic BB.)

It seems to me that Frank's plan is working great.

yeah, the only 2 losses in the last 9 were close overtime games. Plus, if I'm not mistaken we've had 15-20 pt leads in every game of this stretch, except the ATL loss, in which we came back from down 22 in the 4th. We aren't just winning games, we are dominating every team at some point of every game.

Drummonds also 14th in the league in Win Shares Per 48.

The crazy thing about that is every other player in the top 20 is either a superstar or role player on a top playoff team. So naturally, if their team is winning a lot of games, they are going to be high on that list. But for Drummond to be on there on a team with a .378 winning % tells you just how much he impacts the game when he is out there in his limited min. Essentially, he's playing at the same level as the players on contenders are.

Jodi was convinced all along. He just knew it. Anyways, Andre Drummond, who had 11 rebounds for Detroit, has at least 10 boards in six of his last seven games.

Drummond is amazing. We got a #1 draft pick talent at #9. Lillard, Davis, & Drummond are all studs.

Around 10-15 other guys from this draft that all have the potential to be good too.

Deep draft. Not sure I would trade Drummond for any of them. Not bad for a #9th pick.

This type of effort/play isn't representative of the way we have played this season on average. We have had highs and we have had lows. This is definitely one of our best games this season, but yeah...Knight and Moose aren't going to put up 20/5 and 26/11 every night, as of yet.

I don't really even know why people say things like this. Almost all of the people that post here are diehard Piston fans and only want the team to succeed, despite their criticisms. Why else would we watch/support a team that has been so bad for the past 3 years?

Lets just enjoy the win. It's a good day(good couple of weeks to be more accurate) to be a piston fan.

Good post.

Frank is handling Drummond right. He was open to criticism when we were losing, but as long as we're winning I think limiting Drummonds minutes is a good thing. We need him healthy, focused in the minutes he's in there, and to not tire in the second half. Playing against the opposition's second units or against tired starters is much better for the young man's confidence right now. We have to keep putting him in positions where he is having success as it reenforced what he is being coached to do, and reenforced his energy level and attitude/confidence.
