I really don't get the Knight at SG stuff. The games where Knight does nothing are the games where he hands the ball off to Prince or Monroe and spots up. He is not good off the ball. The games where he is effective are the games where he is pushing the ball on the fastbreak and working in the pick and roll.

this. knight is not a SG. he sucks when hes passive and just standing around in the corner, he needs the ball in his hands. also, stuckey is garbage and shouldnt even be in the rotation

^I second that. He's not a great offball player. He's at his best when he's looking to attack the basket off the dribble with the occasional open three off of ball reversal.

Re: What is your best Lineup?
Stuckey is slowing playing his way out of the rotation and maybe off the team. First Singler outplayed him for the starting SG spot. Now Bynum has outplayed him for the lead guard on the 2nd unit. And he's not even playing good as the secondary guard on that unit. I won't be surprised is Dumars trades Stuckey within the next month. I think its finally become clear that he doesn't fit this team anymore, and with other players now rising up and filling his role, I could see Joe deciding he doesn't need him anymore.

Stuckey for Dalembert

I would like to trade him for a backup center to play 10-15min per game while Drummond starts.

wow, this is hilarious, the amount of people who are all of a sudden saying bynum is a part of our future is insane. this is why im done with this site. you all would make the worst gms, all calling for stuckey to get traded 'because he has had a bad start to the season', and thinking lets keep bynum and daye coz you think they look good in one or two games. hey, why dont we trade monroe too? hes had plenty of below par games this season too. he must be useless. you dont trade guys when their value is at their lowest, you have to take risks at trading guys who you know are not that good but are having a good stretch as their value is high. there is no way our best 5 guys are anything other than knight/stuckey/prince/monroe/drummond. now i think there is still a lot of work to be done to make this a title contending team, but to say lets start bynum is crazy.

I did NOT say that Bynum should be part of our future. I said if Bynum can be team oriented instead of Bynum oriented that he can be a dominant PG in this league.
On the Stuck side, I'm not sure why he is playing so poorly this year. His confidence has obviously been shaken and maybe he does need a change of scenery. I am not willing to trade him for a bag of chips. He is still young with tons of potential. I just don't think that Frank is the right coach for him.

One more thing, the NBA is a business and the Det Pistons is a Franchise that works best by putting people in the stands. The number one goal should be making the playoffs and filling the seats. The argument that Knight is out future PG and we should roll with that through his mistakes is laughable when he was still in diapers and puking on his mommys shoulder while Dre was born. Either commit to playing the best man for the job or commit to the youth. You can't do both!! I say if you're going to start BK and give him 35 min per game then you gotta do the same with Dre!!

I like the idea of adding a back-up C to get Drummond into the SL but I'd rather move Maggette for him. Don't see Stuckey being that much appealing to them. Maybe Jerebko and Maxiell would work as well?

You either haven't been watching games this year, or don't know a lot about bball. Bynum has CLEARLY outplayed Stuckey this year. Neither has any longterm future here, but considering fit, what player(s) does Stuckey fit with that would prompt you to keep him over Bynum?
He doesn't have chemistry with any player on our team, and I can't really think of any player he's ever had chemistry with since he's been here. At least Bynum has something going with Drummond, and if he helps make the game easier for Drummond, then he's the guy you keep for now at least, because Andre is the franchise.
I really see no reason to keep Stuckey. Even if it doesn't end up being Bynum, I still think we can find a player to give us the same production as Stuckey, and fit the team better, for a lot less than $8 mil/yr. Bottom line is if Stuckey isn't going to be a longterm starter here, then we can't afford to spend $8 mil/yr on a backup combo guard who doesn't even fit.
It'd be different if he were like McDyess who fit a role perfect and meshed well with every player on the team. But this is Stuckey's 6th year here and he still hasn't found his role. They've tried him everywhere. He plays good for a few weeks and looks to have found his role, then goes back to not fitting for the next month. Its time to move on from Stuckey.

Re: What is your best Lineup?
He has outplayed Stuckey, but as long as Dre comes off the bench, Will should as well. For the sake of chemistry. They both benefit from each other...Will has a lob target and Drummond has a player that can actually throw lobs.
I don't see any reason for Will to start honestly. Even if he is our "best" option, that would mean putting Knight at SG, and basically killing his development before his 2nd year is even finished, which would just be plain stupid. Additionally, we aren't making the playoffs...putting a lineup with the purpose to win as many games as possible will only hut us long term. I hate tanking, and I don't condone it because it leads to a losing culture and builds bad habits, but the best thing for us long term is:
1. Give Knight/Moose/Dre playing time to develop
2. Allow Knight to develop at PG
3. Allow Moose/Dre to play TOGETHER more often
If that leads us to more losses than what would be an optimal lineup to win now, so be it. If you want to see a mediocre treadmill team, that's fine. But I personally have other expectations, our goal should be to get back to contention. I would be ecstatic to make the playoffs when I feel that we are set at every position long term and it's time for our guys to get playoff experience together. We don't have that.
Dre doesn't need to play 35 mpg right now. Frank should continue to ease him into the process and slowly increase minutes as he has so far...post all star break he should be getting 25-28 consistently.

Re: What is your best Lineup?
stuckey is a 20PPG scorer when he has it going, he hasnt had the best start to the season, but players go through that, his attacking style is something i really like, if he can keep improving his jumper it will help him largely. but if we had more shooters on this team it wouldnt even be a big deal. daye and cv have had a few nice games but are definitely not a pair to count on being knock down shooters every game. i definitely think sticking with him is better than sticking with bynum. bynum is not going to play better than he is now, and stuckey is not going to play a lot worse than he is. that should instantly say trade bynum and wait on stuckey.
i honestly think if knight had more court time with dre we would see a much better/much more connection between the two, similar to what bynum is able to do. it will come, knight is a very solid player.
saying that, with this roster, drummond has to come off the bench. there is no way we can have maxiell playing center along with cv/jerebko,daye etc. for any period of time. by having drummond off the bench we can have either him or monroe on the floor at all times, something that is vital to us having any chance. thats still no reason for him not to play close to the extra 12 minutes or so (18 now, could play 30) a game with the starters however
