Yeah lets trade our 22 year old up and coming big man who fits perfectly next to Drummond for an older player who has Stuckey's bball IQ and chucks jumpers when he sucks at shooting. This board is straight up ridiculous.

Smith will kill the cap and he isnt a good fit next to Drummond

I'm on board about trading Monroe, but for the right one, not for Smith.

Monroe fits perfectly next to Drummond? in which universe?

I think New Orlenas is a good trade partner if Detroit wants (they should) trade Monroe.

Joe Dumars indeed loves Josh Smith...We need a starting SF badly, I'm not sure if Josh Smith can play SF full-time...Maybe part-time...

5 years/close to 100 mil max when you trade for him and extend him = no, thanks

Agree with this. Trading for and then extending Josh Smith is a hug mistake, I'm not sure of any team out there that would be willing to do that. Let him walk in FA and offer 4 years $59M and see if any other team is willing to match. Trade Monroe for a SF and pick or PG and pick if possible. Charlotte Bobcats would probably entertain MKG for Monroe, that's one team that comes off the top of my head. Maybe Spurs like Monroe enough to give Kawhi although Pop has said he's their future and it's likely they extend Tiago Splitter.

Name a team that would give Josh Smith the $100M extension. I can't think of any. If you lose the J-Smoove sweepstakes there are plenty of PFs on the market - David West.

I'd only do it if Smith resigned for 5 years at 45 million extension and would only offer Monroe and Maggette for him. Young centers are worth more than expiring PF's.

I like Smith. I think he'd be a decent fit. But I do not want to pay him what he wants to be paid. And there are much bigger holes on our roster atm.

Smith is not a SF for 10000000000000000000000000000th time...

I see him play alot at both positions. In my personal opinion, he is very effective at the 3 with decent range, but is deadline within 17 feet or less which works better for him at PF. Thus, I think he is a good SF, but an All-Star PF. Atlanta news articles in the past have always said that he feels more comfortable at PF. Would love to see a lineup of:

Jose
BK
Singler
Josh Smith
Drummond

With Stuckey switching between the PG/SG positions.

^^hahahaha...I think he could he could split SF/PF position throughout the game...I don't think he could hold down the SF full-time like Prince...

Monroe and Maggette plus (future 1st, Jerebko or Singler) for Josh Smith.

Josh Smith alongside Drummond would be a sick front court for yeeeeaaarrrsss!!!

Hawks get talent back in Monroe to play with Horford at a reduced salary with Maggs coming off the cap this offseason where they can still retool with a more youthful and competitive team.

Win win for everyone. Your Welcome -BMP

What???

I would think Monroe has double the trade value of Smith.

if anything the Hawks should be sending 1st rd picks and and young talent.

Thanks for answering. So I guess that means that DET might be a team willing to throw a max contract at him this offseason.

To answer your concern, Smith has truly become a SF. I didn't expect he could do it but he's actually pretty good there. He's really good, defensively. The job he did on Paul Pierce was terrific. Pierce couldn't get around him and Smith even got a finger on a couple of Pierce's jump shots. OFFENSE is another subject. He has delusions of grandeur, sometimes. Many times, when he gets the rebound under our basket, he thinks he's Magic Johnson and tries to run a fastbreak, only slowly. And, of course, there're the times he thinks he's Carmello Anthony and chucks from everywhere, but especially right inside the 3pt arc.

Short of it is, you'll like him on defense and you'll be begging him to post up down low on offense.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Heck no

Monroe is younger & his bball IQ is light years ahead of Josh Smith's.

No problem bro...I would love Smith on our team mainly because of his defense...I think he could fit in as a SF on our team then switch over to the 4 when Drummond or Monroe needs a break...Hopefully our coach can give Smith good advice on the offensive end...I don't mind Smith shooting 3's if his shot is falling...In conclusion, don't be surprised to see Dumars offer Smith a big deal this summer or Dumars might try to making something happen before the trade deadline...

I think by signning Josh Smith. I think it signals that he is the PF of the present and Drummond will beacl-up next season.
