I never said he was a good defender but he is at least serviceable. That's something I can't say about Knight at the SG position or Calderon at any position.

How can you say with such certainty that Knight cant defend SGs when he's only played 3 games at that position?

Even if you wanted to base an opinion off those 3 games, the starting SGs for the other teams have combined for 11-28 FG (39%) and 11 ppg.

Kidd: 3 pts on 1-7
Johnson: 16 pts on 5-15
Green: 15 pts on 5-8

If anything you could make the case that Knight is excelling defensively at SG. But its way too early to tell either way. imo though, there just aren't a lot of great scoring SGs in the league today to worry that much about Knight defensively. And the ones that are great are mostly short guards around Knights height. Mayo, Gordon, Ellis, and Wade are all 6'3 - 6'4 SGs.

I just don;t see it as much of an issue in todays an NBA, having a smaller SG. Especially if they are a tough, scrappy defender, whose athletic, long, and takes pride on D. I'd worry more about a 6-7 SG whose soft and doesn't care about defense.

It's common sense that he will struggle guarding SG's because he is severely undersized and time will show that. Putting Calderon next him just makes it a disaster of a backcourt defensively. You can continue to pretend it won't matter though. I just hope Dumars knows better.

I actually don't care either way; team is a year or two away. And if the price tag is anywhere near his current or CV range, good bye and good luck.

Agreed. Constantly having to go against bigger guys also takes a considerable toll on the body. Remember what happened to Singler when he was forced to keep up with faster guys? Same deal, except with size rather than speed.
Side note: Knight looked more comfortable in this game because 1: Green is an awful defender 2: he had the ball in his hands A LOT more, unlike in the first two games. Amazing how actually practicing with your teammates changes things.

Monroes last 2 games hes avg 25 pts, 13 rebs, 4 asts on 59% FG

Good chance it continues tomorrow against MIL, as he historically has had the best games of his career against the Bucks.

This. If the Knight at SG experiment works then we need to be looking for a big PG that can guard SG's.

Severely?

It was a good point that Goldtop made about Gordon's and Mayo's heights in comparison with Knight (although the rest of his argument is questionable, as you pointed out).

Let's see how Knight does over a bigger sample of games, defensively and offensively.

I am looking forward to seeing what Calderon does for Monroe's and Drummond's (when he gets back) games.

Yep Knight has to be the future PG going forward and learn under Calderon. There aren't many PGs more athletic than Knight so when he learns how to be a better assist man then he can be great because he can already shoot to keep people honest

So what is the plan for this team? Are we going to rev up the tank or are we going to treadmill for the 9th spot? I don't see Boston or Milwaukee dropping out of the the playoffs, especially since we are just too far behind. We can compete for a better draft spot though.
