First, you're making the mistake of determing a true PG just based on number of assists. Second, you're making the mistake of saying Lillard and Holiday are "definitively" better "true" PGs than Calderon, based on one half of a season. If you are going to say someone is definitively better, you better have more than half a season as evidence, otherwise its not really credible.
I'm not sure why the word "elite" gets ppl so riled up today. Just saying a player is elite isn't proclaiming them as one of the greatest all-time. It just means they've performed at the level of the best players in the league at their position for an extended period of time. You can't deny that with Calderon. Its that simple. He's been one of the best true PGs in the league since he came into the league. You can see it on the court watching him, and you can back it up with 8 yrs of stats.
Right now Lillard & Holiday are better players than Calderon, the end.
Most people would categorize Calderon as very good, not elite.
I'm glad hes in Detroit though & hope Dumars can keep him.
