We got Moose and Drummond.
If our 4/5 big rotation can add another equal or 2, then how could we not be a problem for the elite teams?
If we add semi-stars on the wing like E.Gordon, A.Iggy and D.Granger, then how are we gonna uck with the elite teams?
It's better to go all in on a 3rd and 4th big that overwhelm and let our perimeter guys catch up is what I'm saying. Even if Josh Smith is the starting pf or whatever, that is fine.
Point #2: I think we need another shot blocker to be one of our top 3 bigs. Guys like P.Millsap are nice, but how we gonna hurt the best teams with just 1 shot-blocker in our top 3 bigs??? They already will pwn us in other ways... We need to be different. We need to have something that other teams don't have.

That doesn't work IMO. Balanced teams always prevail. I think by 2014 and as earliest as next year, Moose and Dre will be getting all star consideration. Loading up on bigs won't work if we don't have anybody on the Wings worth guarding.
If we were lucky to land a guy like Iggy and an injury free Gordon, we would have 4 all stars + Knight (Who I still think can be an excellent player and maybe even an allstar).
Our Starting 5:
Knight
Gordon
Iguodala
Monroe
Drummond
The Elite teams? First we just have to focus on the East:
Miami: Capped out
Chalmers-Lebron-Wade(32)-Bosh + Ring Chasers. That team lives and dies by Lebron. There is no reason to try and build a team to try and beat Lebron. You build the best possible team possible.
Pacers: Capped out
Hill-Stephenson-George-Granger or West-Hibbert. I think that projected Pistons team is better.
Knicks: Capped Out
Felton-Melo-Amare-Chandler-Shumpert. I think we'd be on par with New York. Tyson/Amare are both high school guys who have miles on them.
Bulls: Capped Out
Rose-Deng-Boozer-Noah. Boozer is probably gone and Rose will be a question mark. Matchup quite well with this squad.

The only trouble is actually getting Iggy and Gordon here.. that would be a scary team though.

Re: 3 or 4 awesome bigs. is there any other way?
really the Pistons just need one more shot-blocking power forward.
I agree with you I'd prefer Tony Mitchell over Paul Millsap...
but as long as they can produce rebounds and score more than layups I'm good.
That's not the first priority though.
I agree with the above poster you have to have a balanced team, and realize that some positions are more important than others. (paint production (rebounds blocks dunks) and ballhandling/passing are the most important roles on the basketball court, next is perimeter defense, then perimeter shooting, last in importance is one-on-one scoring, because basketball is mostly a team game)
So since Pistons already have Moose and Drummond:
First priority is SF. - Otto Porter or Otto Porter
Next is Calderon insurance (a true pg that can run the position now, if Calderon doesn't resign). - Trey Burke
Next priority is backup PF. - Millsap or Brandan Wright or Tony Mitchell or Adreian Payne
next is Shooting Guard (Knight or Stuckey can always fill in here) - Vic Oladipo

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

If you pay that team, there is no way you can keep Monroe. I'd assume Monroe gets a max deal now. I'd be willing to Iggy but he's not a franchise guy. He's a career 13 PPG guy. He's not a go to scorer. We need one in the draft.

Nah we can afford both. Iggy would be a 3 yr deal so he expires when Dre is due. As will Gordon.
