What if we had gotten James Harden from OKC?

Post#1 » by tysho21 » Sat Feb 23, 2013 8:18 pm

how do you think this team would have been if we had gotten harden from OKC? Alot of people doubted Harden would produce in a starting role and obviously he has proven everyone wrong. do u think thunder would have considered a package of knight and stuckey? or anyone else on the roster beside drummond and monroe? if the deal had work out we had have a good core of harden, monroe and drummond plus enough capsace over the summer seeing that joe eventually traded prince for calderon

No. The Rockets package was better than Stuckey/Knight

They would hang up the phone. Harden is worth more than any player on our team, and any realistic offer we could have made would include Moose.

I admit i did not expect him to live up the max contract. He's actually exceeded it at this point, and become a legit star for his team.

If this had been before the BG trade:

2013 unprotected First, Stuckey, Knight would have gotten the job done IMO.

Hopefully we get the next Harden-type player in McLemore or Shabazz via the draft....

OKC got two firsts, both of which will be in the lottery, plus a prospect lots of teams were excited about, plus a guy who a was a consistent 20+ pt scorer and had PERs around 20 many seasons. That's a whole lot better than our near-worthless Stuckey, decent prospect Knight, and a late lotto first offer.
Edit: to be clear, not saying Lamb is a better prospect than Knight, just that Lamb wasn't just a throw-in and Knight holds a bit less value now than most pistons fans admit.

I don't see any reason the Thunder would have considered such a deal.

You may not be terribly impressed with what they got, but what they got was considerably better than that package.

If the Pistons had landed Harden to go with Monroe/Drummond, this team would be in the playoffs right now.

The Thunder would have demanded Drummond in the deal most likely. I couldn't see the Pistons giving up two picks, Drummond, and possibly Gordon to make a deal work.

Actually, I would trade Drummond for Harden because Harden has proven to be a franchise player. He is really that good.

2nd that. It isn't much of a debate really, but obviously that situation wont come up.

Can we please bring back the threads of all the people arguing that Stuckey was almost, or just as good as James Harden? I want a good laugh.
