Re: Yet another vege's offseason plan
I don't think Iggy is a realistic target for us this offseason.
For comparable money, I think he would gladly go to these teams before coming here:
Houston (although they may not go after him with Parsons there)
Cleveland
Utah
Phoenix (played college ball at Arizona)
Atlanta (especially if they lure a couple bigger names there)

Re: Yet another vege's offseason plan
You guys are giving Cleveland too much love...Irving is the only good player they have, everyone else is trash...I'll give Waiters a little respect, but his name isn't luring any FA towards Cleveland...
The Pistons have Dumars, a history of winning, plus we currently have 3 talented young players at the 1, 4, and 5...We just need a damn coach to put it all together!..

We have guys at the 1, 4, and 5
CLE has guys everywhere but SF - Irving, Waiters, *SF*, TristanT, Varejao

Re: Yet another vege's offseason plan
Cavs are going after Lebron in 2014. The Suns are not voiding Fryes contract. He's playing next year. The Jazz have both Burks and Hayward who they are very high on to go along with Marvin. The rockets would get bent over by the luxury tax in the last year of Lin and Asik. They will not make an offer.
And thanks for proving my point. You have never been to Detroit and you write it off as an inferior place to play basketball and live.

Says who? Even with Frye they still got enough to offer Iggy a contract anyways.

Hayward is not starting and neither Burks. They need a winger desperately and Iggy would fit like a glove.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about here.

I never said those things you're creating a fantasy in your mind, what I proved with facts is, Detroit is not a free agent destination, players rather go to other places than Detroit for similar money and similar role.

Jazz actually have no need for a wing, They are very high on Hayward and Burks and probably will attempt to sign a point guard before a wing...
And Houston seems to be alright cap-wise but wasnt it revealed a while back that they wanted Dwight? Or am i wrong on that

He's got 6 choices:
Detroit
Sac/Seattle
New Orleans
Milluwakee - will most likely pursue Josh Smith
Atlanta -
Dallas - they already have Marion and will be looking to resign mayo
Of the remaining 4, Detroit has the best young core and most storied franchise.
That's just a terrible idea and I think you know it. I'm not paying him Melo money.

As far as the OP, I would do it. This would be a very interesting team. Thats for sure.
But, I bet the Pistons could do even better.

Re: Yet another vege's offseason plan
I'm all for adding:
Eric Gordon, Iguodala, Granger, Milsap
As for the plan, there are a few things we don't know yet that could change everything. If we end up with a top 3 pick and are able to pick McLemore or Shabazz, for example. If we could pull it off, Shabazz along with an Iguodala signing would be terrific. Far better than trading for Granger and giving up the pick. If we don't get into the top 3, which we likely wont, then I'm assuming that NO would demand the pick in any trade not including Moose/Dre which would be fine, because Eric Gordon would fill in that need for a wing.
Top 3 pick, take a wing and sign Iggy as well.
Top 10, go for Eric Gordon, without including Drummond in the trade discussion, and sign Iggy.
Scenario 1 would be Knight/Bazz/Iggy/Moose/Drummond. I would totally enjoy watching that team.
Scenario 2 would be PG/Gordon/Iggy/Moose/Drummond.
I'm not sure how willing Iggy will be to sign here though. We're gonna need some serious luck. I think it's about time we catch a break after so many years of watching a depressing team. We are last in attendance. The NBA is BETTER with a good Detroit Piston team. Just like they are better when the Bulls, Celtics, and Lakers are playing well...we are one of those storied franchises.

Re: Yet another vege's offseason plan

I like the idea of Granger. Could be had for cheap i think. Gordon is a terrible idea. Already got an undersized two in Knight. Calderon is a no brainer resign. No thanks to boozer. I'd only sign him for 3 mill a year. Not worth 8.

Re: Yet another vege's offseason plan
I just had a good laugh. After the past few years of Pistons fans posting thinking they were getting a top 3 pick, I am seeing posts thinking they are getting Shabbazz or McLemore. I figured fans would have learned their lesson that a team with around the 10th best record is not going to win the lottery by now.

Laughing? Why? Our attendance right now provides a good laugh. This shouldn't.
MrBigShot wrote:If we don't get into the top 3, which we likely wont
Key words: "likely wont". Obviously our chances of winning the top 3 are slim, but it's a possibility. And besides, there is always the possibility of guys falling and us trading up.
Most people didn't expect Monroe to fall. Most people didn't expect Knight to fall to 8. In the early parts of Drummond's college campaign, most people expected him to be a surefire top 5 pick at worst. Nobody expected Perry Jones/Sullinger to fall so far, albeit they did have health flags.
This is part of what forums are for. Evaluating scenarios, even if they aren't very realistic. We will obviously never seen half of the comparisons on the player comparison board, but people make them anyway for the sake of discussion.
I don't actually expect us to get a top 3 pick or Bazz/McLemore. But hey, who knows. Bazz right now strikes as me one of those "This guy is going to be a future superstar." guys that come into college and then don't dominate quite as much as people expected them to, and in conjunction with team or health issues, they fall.

I just think that Pistons should concentrate on looking at players that will fall between 8-14 because that is where the Pistons will most likely draft being they have like a 1.5% chance or something of winning the lotto.

Re: Yet another vege's offseason plan
If anyone thinks that Shabazz is a top 3 pick, they haven't been paying attention to the draft. Furthermore the idea that our pick will fall in the 11 to 14 range is equally as funny as us winning the lottery

Shabazz is falling down everyone's big board. And the odds of us moving up in the draft the way this team is playing is alot higher than moving down to the 10th pick. We're not passing Philly.
