Collins could be out in PHI, Curry may replace him

Post#1 » by Goldtop » Fri Mar 1, 2013 3:39 am

For one, its amazing that Curry may actually get another coaching job. Two, Collins is another good candidate to add to the list this summer. Hollins, Collins, SVG, JVG, I'd be happy with any one of them. And we already know Joe likes Collins. If I'm not mistaken, the reason he turned down the job here in 2009 was just because of the ownership situation and the roster in complete disarray with no talent. But both those problems are resolved now, and he would be a great person just to build a foundation the right way and get us back to a playoff team. Hollins and SVG would still be my first choices, but Collins would be a nice consolation if he's all we could get

Hollins, Collins , SVG are my order.

Collins isn't a player friendly coach, something i think our locker room needs. Hollins has shown he can get it done in memphis.

Unfortunately I kind of agree. I get the sens that Joe is going to keep him for the 3rd year, just so he doesn't have to put another fired coach on his resume, as the 4th year is a team option, so they could just part ways without actually firing him. But we could still get lucky and have Gores intervene and say hes willing to spend and tells Joe to go out and get the best coach available. With all the playoff talk preseason from Gores, and to come back with the same record, he may feel obligated to put his money where his mouth is and make a move that puts us in better position to see that playoff prediction come true. Its pretty obvious by nolw Frank isn't really equipped to get us there, not having been to playoffs since 2006, or even a winning record since then

Even if we fired Frank....I highly doubt we bring back Collins.

Doug is a teacher and he preaches the right things. He's mellowed a bit with age, but he can still be pretty intense. Definitely a good candidate (short term), but I agree Frank gets 1 more year.

IIRC Joe didn't hire Collins because he asked for too many years and too much money, not because of the roster or ownership situation.
