Where does he rate long-term compared to Kravtsov? Would he be a guy we should look at bringing in to backup Drummond on the cheap?

PF - Monroe / Maxiell / CV / Jerebko
C - Drummond / Tyler / Kravtsov

I'd sign him. Hes 21 years old 6'10" 260lbs. Give him a contract for the remainder and a team option for next year and see what happens.

No. We don't need other team's garbage. Slava has serious potential. He's big, fast and athletic - and he does do a good job playing one on one D against physical guys. I note when he plays that guys trying to post him up have to work hard to get up good shots. There's no reason not to wait it out with him to see if he can translate that into being a consistent NBA player. Let's see how he grows, or doesn't, by the time he comes back next fall.

I expect he'll be a lot more acclimated. This PT stretch has been rough at times, but he needed this exposure to the NBA at full-speed game.

I don't think Joe is looking for more young projects, other than what we have and what we are about to add in the draft. Unless its someone he's always been high on, and that name Jeremy Tyler does sound familiar like someone I once read Joe being interested in during draft time or something. idk though. I say why not.

I agree that I don't want other team's retreads, especially vets....but Tyler is still a very young kid that could be had for very cheap and could grow with the rest of our young nucleus.

If we claimed him, the pistons would owe him about 1/4th of $760,000 with a team option next year for under $900,000.

This is as low risk as it gets. I honestly think Charlotte will claim him, but how could you not be at least intrigued by him? its not like we'd be bringing him in to take a major role, we'd bring him to see if hes worth anything.

^I just think the Pistons are trying to get older, not younger. They have too many young players to develop already, and will be adding at least 1 more in the draft. We need to start adding some vets if we ever want to win, We're getting close to resembling a farm team with all these young players we're developing lol

Yeah I agree. Dumars needs to bring in some proven players this offseason. Our core should be Knight/Drummond/Monroe/1st rounder and they should be surrounded by vets.

We aren't bringing in any proven vets to end out the season. So why not take a chance on Jeremy Tyler. Let him get in the system, practice with the team, and evaluate his ability up close for the remainder of the season. See if you can get him working out with bigs in the offseason and invite him to summer league. Make him an offer if he performs well in summer league.

exactly. We're not talking about offering Jeremy a 4 year contract. We are talking about adding him for the last 20 some odd games of the season. There is no risk.

The easiest way and the smartest way (IMO) to add strong veterans to aid in the development of all our young guys is to resign Calderon and add a couple good veterans through trades (including our cap space).

Calderon is a fine player, and having him on the court means that our guys will learn to execute at a higher level as the main QB on the team will be directing them and making on time passes and the right reads all the time. I think we need a couple of very good veterans to come in off the bench. Stuckey, who has totally regressed and done the opposite of improving as his career goes along, Maxiell and CV have got to be upgraded - they give us very inferior play way too much of the time. Bynum too. If we had 3 good vets to replace them, we'd be a much better team than we are now - and when you add that to the obvious internal improvements we'll get from our 3-key young guys and we could make a big jump.

Go for outstanding veteran bench players. Trade for a young veteran star if one becomes available. Try to draft another star if we get lucky enough to find one. Resign Calderon. Move along Stuckey, Bynum, Maxiell and CV and replace them with better and more consistent fits. The formula isn't too hard to understand, given we're starting with a roster which already has a franchise talent (Drummond), a young all-star caliber PF (Monroe), and a potentially great player in Knight.
