Is Hollins available?
He'd be a nice fit given his experience with young players and he coached a line up with 2 quality big men
Frank may be on his way out once the season's over.

Yeah unfortunately we're 2 years too late for Collins. He's a good teacher, but teams outgrow him. He would have been better for this squad than Frank, but I think after next year he would have overstayed his welcome as well.

I'm hoping. He definitely doesn't like the way Hollinger and the rest of the FO is handling the team. If we could lure him in that would be great.

Collins would be an upgrade over Frank, but looking at his recent resume, its not much better than Frank.
He's only had 1 winning season since 1996!
And it was in the lockout shortened year, where he only went 35-31. If thats the best season you've had in 17 yrs, I don't think that's who we need.
We need someone with a recent track record of success, who brings a winning mentality here. A guy whose only experienced success once in the last 17 yrs isn't going to be able to change our losing culture, imo.
He'd be more of a last resort type to me.
Hollins, SVG, JVG, Sloan. These are the guys we should pursue first.

Other than SVG and maybe Hollins, no other coach will make much difference.

JVG or Sloan wouldn't make a difference?

We need experience. We could strike gold with a first time assistant, but first time coaches fail more often than not. I don't think we can afford to take that risk. After 3 coaches in 5 yrs, they no longer can gamble on young coaches, imo. They need to get this one right.

Hollins would be ideal. I doubt he leaves the Griz but if he does I could see him coming here because of how similar our team is to the Griz. Both teams are built with size and work inside out. I think Hollins would be intrigued by going from Gasol/Randolph to Drummond/Monroe.

yeah, I agree with the latter. Hollins seems a little frustrated with MEM management though, and I could see him leaving if we offered him more money.
When you compare the situations, MEM didn't offer him a contract extension, likely implying they aren't interested in paying him a ton of money. They are also dumping players salaries, which Hollins was not happy about. Then you look at the Pistons and we are doing the opposite, looking to spend big money on players this offseason. So if we offered him the contract that he wants, that MEM wasn't willing to give him, combined with the money we are willing to spend on new players, as well as our frontcourt which is younger with more potential than he has now in MEM, that all adds up to a much more attractive situation, imo.
The thing I like most about Hollins is he's proven successful without any real superstars. MEM doesn't really have anything we don't currently have, or couldn't acquire in FA. So I see no reason he couldn't have the same success here.

Of the most intriguing, Shaw would be worth a look. A triangle offense would be fun to have just because it's so damn effective.
Of the most appealing, McMillan for me. Did well with Portland, happens to be available, and I think would be refreshed after a spell of rest.
