Reasons why CP3 talk isn't ridiculous:

1) Donald Sterling

2) Chris Paul one of the smartest players in the NBA. He knows Sterling's history.

3) He has to see in the West he'd have to play a post season schedule like the Grizz, Spurs, OKC to get a shot at Miami. In the East you have the Heat and the Knicks-Celtics-Bulls level teams.

4) Sign him to a 3 year deal, after 3 years we'd have bird rights and could sign a 5 year max deal.

5) Drummond/Monroe/Knight/pick 7-9/whatever contract or FA CP3 wants vs Griffin/Jordan/Bledsoe/Crawford/Butler

Which one is really better set up?

6) The Super Friends rivalry

If CP3 wanted to go East to play/see Lebron or Melo and the boys and play with them at the All Star game we are the best available option.

It's CP3, we are crazy if we don't go all in even with a slight chance.

I don't think anyone is saying that the Pistons shouldn't at least make an offer at Paul. Clearly Paul is the best FA available this offseason and would fit perfectly for us. However, if you honestly believe that we have a better shot of signing him than LAC, then you're crazy.

Can you honestly say that if you were offered 2 jobs, one in Detroit and one in LA, that you would take the Detroit job even though you'd be getting paid less and wouldn't have a guaranteed job for as long?

this is what we need to do:

overpay for tyreke
trade for wilson
sign SVG
draft oladipo/shabazz
let calderon/maxiell/bynum walk
buy out fiddy

call it an offseason

Dumars blows our minds, amnestying Villanueva, signs CP3 and Howard simultaneously.

Joking aside, I hate the free agent pool. If I was running the show in Detroit, I would be paying attention to what the Nuggets do with their wings. Brewer is a UFA, but they also have Wilson Chandler. I either try and sign Brewer to a reasonable 3 year deal, or if Denver resigns him, offer to "help" them out by taking Chandler's contract off their hands and offer them some wiggle room for resigning Igoudala (who isn't likely to leave, I think he's found his perfect fit).
