Marion's contract has a 15% trade kicker!

Carter's has a 10% trade kicker!

Morrow is not under contract to them next season

Without dumping a contract Dallas will have approx $16 mil in cap space - assuming a $60 mil cap

I for one would happily take on Carter or Marion for the #13 pick... I'd prefer Marion too

We need talent to rebuild... and Marion is apparently a legit pro.... plus he'd be an expiring contract next season

If Houston does it right they can have:

Howard/Montiejunas
Smith/Robinson/Jones
Parsons
Harden/Delfino
Lin/Beverly

That would be tough to match as a landing spot.

Perhaps Houston should be our target. Asik/Garcia/1st for English and some 2nds. That gives us a very strong 3 big rotation and still let's us sign a FA. Houston frees up enough cap for Dwight & Josh Smith.

Although I'd to see it happen(and Pistons using that pick to draft a high ceiling player like Schroeder), I just don't think the Pistons are willing to invest time in 2 rookies (1st rounders). They have the cap space. I'm pretty sure that they'd rather spend it on known commodities in FA.

I know that the draft/young prospect lovers would hate it...but I think that is exactly what's going to happen.

This is "the year" for Joe D. He won't be burning assets in hopes of finding "saviors"/lottery tickets in the draft when his job is on the line.

Edit: For the record, I'd love to see them draft Schroeder or Saric with an extra first rounder. :)

If we managed to score the 13th pick, would be allowed to turn around and offer that and the 8th in a follow up trade to swap places with someone like Washington or Orlando? I'd be interested in that if we don't like our options at 8.

We really should consider trading both our 2nd rounders for Marion and the 13th pick...Our team could really benefit from picking two prospect, especially if we're planning on making the playoffs...We get 2 prospect out of Muhammad, MCW, Bennett, Dipo, Burke, KCP, or McCullum...My goodness, the Pistons would be loaded!..

I like this plan. And then next year would be the year of free agency, since Marion, CV, and Stucky all come off the books. That more than covers Monroe's extension and gets us a free agent, and by then, maybe we would be a more desireable destination.

Are the Mavs really desperate enough for cap space to do a deal like this?

If so, I'd obviously be all over it.

We should at least throw in a small salary to clear positional minutes.
