I view him as a center and we have a potential superstar in Drummond who is also a center.

I would like to see him dealt because he would net a nice return and the timing is right.

Detroit needs to build an uptempo team around Drummond. We need shooters and a decent PG.

We would get a ton back in a Monroe trade right now. He's also getting close to a significant raise.

I like Monroe, I'll be fine if he stays. Just think sometimes you have to trade a talented player to build the team you want.

The problem with Monroe is he has a center's size but a game more suited to PF. He doesn't protect the rim well at all but doesn't have the speed/foot work to keep with quicker PFs like a Josh Smith/Garnett type. With the legit depth at PF in FA, i'd consider a trade if we can get a legit young wing scorer.

I think the bigger problem is offensive spacing.

The league wide trend is to pack the paint and eliminate the driving lanes. This was huge in the Grizz-Spurs series, the Spurs packed it down on the Grizz big guys and Allen/Prince couldn't make them pay. I'm not too worried about defense/rebounding as Monroe & Drummond will easily pack the paint and should be a solid rebounding combo. Even with quick PFs, Moose & Drummond are so long there won't be a lot of room to operate. My worry is unless one of Drummond or Monroe develop a high post game with a jumper to keep defenses honest we are going to need 3 Kyle Korver level outside shooters on the court with them to have a chance to have room to operate.

This would all be MUCH easier if Moose developed a 3 point shot.

I have two questions for Pistons fans.

Do Piston's fans think Monroe and Drummond can coexist offensively? Monroe has a decent mid range shot for a center but a below average one for a pf in my opinion. Monroe's fg% dropped significantly this past season since he took a lot more mid range shots. He seems to be at his best down on the low block because of his good post game. I feel like a Paul Millsap/Ibaka type player would fit better with Drummond offensively. Defensively they should be okay. Their good rebounding should make up for any mishaps Monroe has against any of the better stretch fours.

The second is what type of contract do you expect Monroe to get? Is a 4 year 12 million per contract fair? That's the range Nene, Ibaka, Horford and Noah got.

1- Yes, Monroe can co-exist with Drummond. Monroe can become a better mid-range shooter, it's not as if his jumper is broken and it's a long shot, he just needs more consistency and better looks. Also, with rotations, Monroe can still play a large chunk of minutes at center when Drummond is on the bench.

2- Monroe is likely going to get a max deal. If Roy Hibbert got a max deal, I don't see how Monroe doesn't find an offer like that, whether it's directly from the Pistons or in receiving an offer sheet in restricted free agency.

We KNOW Monroe and Drummond can coexist as they did great together and stats show that. They were subpar early season in stretches together but by the end of the season they had some absurd advanced stats together.

They will be a nightmare to opponents in the years to come as they'll both improve greatly. They're both smart players and both are willing passers. They're also both excellent finishers around the rim. As soon as Monroe improves his Jump Shot they'll be unstoppable especially because most teams lack big man/size nowadays.

Monroe numbers didn't went up to 20/10 as expected because Monroe had to change his game. He shot a hell lot more mid range J's which reduced his efficiency and reduced his offensive rebounds since he was playing away from the basket.

With yet another offseason to work on his Jump Shot there is no reason to not believe it will be improved, it looks good already he just need more consistency/confidence.

As for his contract, he should get the max. Someone out there will offer him the max and we will match it.
