This is not really true. Everyone know prior to the draft that Joe D loved Drummond, but he wasn't supposed to be there and if he wasn't we wouldve walked away with Henson. In 2011 it was between Thompson and Biyombo but Knight fell and those aforementioned bigs were off the board. In 2010- everyone knew we were drafting Monroe, it was mocked several days prior to the draft, we also really liked Cousins. In 2009 it was betwen Earl Clark and Austin Daye. Joe D is not a secretive drafter. Brandon Knight has really been the only surprise pick.

Each year since 2007, Ford has usually pinned down Joe D's draft preferences. And, this draft- the guy I want to fall is Otto Porter- that would IMO be the perfect pick.

And Pete- Saric just officially dropped out of the draft

What part don't you think is true - that Joe had it easy or that picks dropped to us?

That sucks about Saric.

I haven't heard or read anything where Joe gave any indication of who he's going to draft this year, beyond people trying to pass off their opinion as fact.

Me neither, I'm simply talking about the past.

The Pistons really need to swap picks with the Pelicans somehow.

Sorry BigLip, I thought you were implying that our last 3 draft picks were out of left field.

Saric dropping out of the draft might make it more likely that Dallas trades the #13 pick. If he remained, it seems like he wanted to stay in Europe, and Dallas was reportedly in love with him, so they could have had their pick and salary cap relief at the same time. Without him in the draft, there might not be anyone at that spot (aside from the Greek kid), who will be willing to stay in Europe and who's worth a #13 pick. Also, the Mavs might not be able to drive as strong a deal for that pick as they could have, since teams in the league know that Dallas's guy isn't available to them.

Saric dropping out could give us someone to trade back into the 1st round next season...bummed but might work out next season.

Joe has had it easy the last couple drafts. The right guys dropped.....then add in the fact that he had failed trade up attempts (failed moving up for Cousins, failed moving up for TT).....trying not to trun this into another anti-Dumars thread.

I think at #8, we have to either hope McLemore or Oladipo somehow fall or we look seriously at Shabazz or KCP.

So...we end up with the better player and a better draft position?
Can Pelicans be that stupid?

Anderson's contract is of great value because he produces so well and so consistently. He is almost their best scorer and that team has a lot of trouble scoring. Also, there is no need for the Pelicans to clear any cap room. Their only priority at this point, imo, is getting rid of Eric Gordon's contract while he still has some value.

Agree 100%. I hope Joe gets this pick since, as sad as our team is, we should be able to pick up an immediate starter at #13 (obviously assuming we get that at #8 too).

no prob. I think I could have drafted for Joe the last three years and come up with the same result, although I always feel I could do a better job than him :-)

there's an interesting little stat at the bottom. Just wondered what people think of it.

I agree. The last time Joe had to do his homework, because a surefire prospect didn't fall into his lap he took Austin Daye.

I don't take much stock in a "test" where the term "test" is being used so loosely. What is their distinction of which were good or bad teams? What was their distinction of the defensive sets the point guards were playing against? How much focus was on them? Trey Burke had a hell of a lot better team than 90% of the rest of the NCAA point guards at his disposal.

I'm not a big MCW fan. Even so, I won't take any stock in that "statistic".
