Pops Salvage the Offseason Plan

Post#1 » by princeofpalace » Sat Jul 6, 2013 12:32 am

1) Sign Jeff Teague to a 4/32 deal. We need a PG, Teague is the best PG on the market

2) Trade Brandon Knight/Kyle Singler/Jonas Jerebko to Boston for Jeff Green/Courtney Lee
Why? Boston has acquired Gerald Wallace who plays the same position as Green. They need to clear 1 of them and Wallace is immovable. Lee is also a piss poor contract. A Knight/Singler/Jerebko trade gives the Celtics some cheap young prospects and saves them a considerable amount of $$$. Why for us? We need help on the wing and although overpaid both Green/Lee are young, they can play defense and hit the 3, which is just what we need on the perimeter.

2013-2014 Detroit Pistons:
Jeff Teague/Stuckey/Siva
Courtney Lee/KCP/English
Jeff Green/Khris Middleton
Greg Monroe/Charlie V/Tony Mitchell
Andre Drummond/Slava Kravstov

Its probably an 8-10 seed in the East. Once CV/Stuckey come off the books, we can use the FA money to improve and will have to rely on the internal growth of Monroe/Drummond. The only way we contend is if Drummond becomes Dwight Howard 2.0 and Monroe becomes Pau Gasol.

Would absolutely love to some phone pick up Jeff Green, he is probally my favourite SF in the league, I'm not sure they old go for that trade though, if they are rebuilding I assume he is a piece that would keep.

Also would really like Teague, so if this came to fruition I would be extremely happy

I wonder if we could work into the Josh Smith to Houston deal.

DET out: S&T Calderon
DET in: Teague (picks?)

HOU out: Asik, Lin
HOU in: Calderon, Josh Smith (picks?)

ATL out: S&T Teague, S&T Josh Smith
ATL in: Asik, Lin

I don't really know if there'd be any benefit to this for us, or if it's even legal to do multiple S&Ts in the same deal. Reportedly Calderon and Howard are interested in playing with each other, and it's hard to imagine HOU being able to afford to sign Calderon outright.

I cant see boston trading green now.
Even with Wallace on the roster, they have to hang onto the talented youth they have.
If anything they'll play one of them at the 4.
