Depressed vege offseason plan...

Post#1 » by vege » Fri Jul 5, 2013 11:46 pm

With little to no talent left in free agency we take the left overs.

First Amnesty CV since no one will take that bum out of our hands.

Sign Jeff Teague 4 years starting at $ 8,500,000
Sign Paul Millsap 4 years starting at $ 8,500,000
Sign Dorrell Wright 4 years starting at $ 6,000,000

Rodney Stuckey $ 8,500,000
Jonas Jerebko $ 4,500,000
Greg Monroe $ 4,086,454
Brandon Knight $ 2,793,960
Andre Drummond $ 2,462,400
Caldwell-Pope $ 2,210,900
Slava Kravtsov $ 1,500,000
Kyle Singler $ 1,045,000
Kim English $ 788,872
Khris Middleton $ 788,872

$28,676,458

Jeff Teague $ 8,500,000
Paul Millsap $ 8,500,000
Dorrell Wright $ 6,000,000

Andre Drummond / Slava Kravtsov /
Greg Monroe / Paul Millsap / Jonas Jerebko
Dorrell Wright / Kyle Singler / Khris Middleton
Caldwell-Pope / Rodney Stuckey / Kim English
Jeff Teague / Brandon Knight /

Pretty awful but whatever. It's better than what we had last season, we might get the 7th or 8th spot in the east I guess.

I would shoot myself if this is how we ended up, utterly terrible and locked in cap hell for the next 4 years.

Teague will cost more to get due to being a rfa. Probably 4/45.

Milsap isn't going to sign on to be a backup for a lottery team. Not sure why people think he will? Jaded maybe?

I'll sign off on Teague and Wright. I'd also prefer Brandon Wright to Milsap- cheaper and better defender.

What is the alternative? Iguodala and Josh Smith were terrible fits but at least they were good players, Iggy is 100% gone and Josh Smith 99% gone.

Would you like us to get Monta Ellis? lol We are out of options and Dumars will spend no matter what.

I'd actually be pretty okay with this as an offseason. Millsap could play with either Monroe or Drummond, making him the perfect 3rd big/6th man. Dorell Wright is a very good shooter who would help space the floor, and Teague is a good young PG. That said, I'd rather swap out Teague with Jack as I don't think Teague will improve that much, butstill a good offseason imo.

EDIT: I'd also want to sign them all for less money. Wright at 4-5mil per max, Millsap is okay, maybe .5mil too much, and take Teague (or Jack, my preference) for 5-7mil per.

Atlanta will likely get Lin from Houston, why would they match any offers for Teague?

Millsap is out of options. He can't be involved in sign and trades and other than Detroit afaik the only other team that could offer that kind of money to Millsap would be Dallas and they have a guy called Dirk Nowitzki starting at the 4 for them.

While Millsap is a good call, give me Jarrett Jack over Teague any day. I dont understand why we are sleeping on him. Hes the perfect glue guy at the 1. I'd try get Billups too for leadership and veteran presence. If Dumars manages to acquire all 3, I'd call it a great off-season but reality always calls.

Agreed. Would much rather do NOTHING this offseason and carry over the cap space to next season.

Dumars is in the last year of his contract, stop dreaming about tanking, it's not going to happen. Period. He is going to spend money and assemble a playoff team this offseason, even if that means destroy the franchise for the foresee future.

Because they have a ton of cap space, and no reason to let an asset like Teague go unless they feel he's being paid too much.

Also, you're speculating on Lin. Asik would definitely be the more likely player moved in that deal.

We keep fearing this scenario, but he hasn't done anything of that nature yet.
