LOL - guess not!

The remake of the team this summer has been nothing short of brilliant. Since we drafted Drummond and saw early on how great he couid be, I thought that the Pistons fortunes had totally changed - in that every player in the league with a brain could see that we had a huge future with Dre and Monroe and our other young talent. Players would want to join us.

That's what's happened. Not only that, but Joe has made very smart decisions about who to bring in.

We've got a dominant set of defensive big-men. We'll totally control both the offensive and defensive boards, and we'll rule the paint. We've added fantastic long range shooters. (The Italian, KCP, Billups, to go with Knight, and Singler and Middleton and JJ can shoot it too if they can even find PT and if they're not traded.) We've got two outstanding expiring contracts, along with some valuable pieces we can throw into trades: JJ, Singler, Middleton, and even Bynum later in the season -- so while at the same time we're a legiimate playoff contender who could by the end of the season actually scare teams in the playoffs, we are also in a position to set up the team really nicely by adding some future draft picks.

I anticipate that Stuckey will be traded sooner now, rather than later. I hope we can get good value for him. But unless we're adding a star (which doesn't seem plausible, I would like a future #1 for him. Otherwise, we should just hold onto him - as awkward as that might be for awhile.

Just wow.

Yeah he's had a good offseason. It remains to be seen how Smith fits, but the mere fact that he actually spent money on someone who is an elite defender this time around, rather than defensive black holes like last time, is an encouraging sign. Datome *seems* like a good shooter, and Sheed/Billups are great for our locker room culture.

Not only that, but we have a lot of very solid 3 point shooters on this team now. Knight, Billups, KCP, Villanueva, Middleton, Singler, GiGi, I'm REALLY looking forward to this season. We'll be like the Knicks without Melo but with better defense.
