How often do you manage to acquire two young big men with tremendous promise?
Hold onto them both.
Detroit has something that most teams would KILL to have.

Barley a article and horrible read
He just says of the two. Moose is more likely to be the one traded. Possibly being traded is a reach

Al Jefferson could have gotten the max off his rookie contract but decided against it since he hadn't "earned" it yet (he still got 13 million per year). Jefferson is probably Monroe's closest match, and with teams being more willing to give out max deals to pretty much any quality big man (Lopez, Hibbert), it's reasonable to assume Monroe will get the max. The reason Josh Smith isn't getting max money is that he isn't 6'11.

Actualy its going to be worse than that. He is a RFA so if the Lakers for example want him they are going to offer some crazy frontloaded contract that is poison pilled up in order to try to steal him away.
If Monroe wasnt going to get Max then he would have extended already. From here on we dont pay Monroe what hes worth. We pay him what other teams were willing to overpay to get him.

This isn't really a concern for a max level player. No incentive to sign a back loaded contract and we have the cap space to match a front loaded one.
