Given the eighth pick again, do you draft KCP?

Obviously, getting there is a different topic.

My thoughts exactly

From what I know and have seen of KCP, my view is that there is nobody in this entire draft I'd rather have than him. I've thought about Oladipo - but I like KCP better for us because the Pistons need 3 pt and other high efficiency scoring, and KCP's a better scorer than Oladip. That isn't even close, IMO. I'd have liked Oladipo in Detroit - a lot - but this roster needed KCP more.

I thought about McLemore, but I like KCP way better as a player than McLemore. Honestly, I see major bust potential for McLemore in this league for reasons I've posted a lot on and don't need to repeat again.

I'm not a Porter fan. Bennett could be awesome, but the Pistons didn't need a tweener or someone up front as much as they needed a true SG with great size and athletic ability. Defense wins in this league. If KCP had been taken, and Bennett somehow available, I could justify us taking him, but for our team, I like KCP a lot better. Len, Zeller, Noel, Olynyk - didn't need any of those guys because we have Monroe and Drummond and, as a big post-draft bonus, Smith. Burke - I don't think he's going to be a good pro, let alone a great one.

MCW - I could make a case for, but especially after summer league play, I have major questions about him. Schroeder, I like a lot, but that kid is a couple years away from being a good PG in our league.

KCP truly was the best pick for us. And I think this kid has the potential and character to become an all-star SG in a few seasons, but a strong contributoras a rookie. If things click for him soon enough this season, I see him as a ROY candidate. That will depend on whether he gets the opportunity to shine right away (even assuming that he deserves that opportunity), or whether he gets the Joe D. treatment where he gets PT because he's willing to play a role as a defensive stopper but other guys take most of the shots.

Every day after the draft, I become happier and happier that we picked KCP. This team needs size, athletecism, shooting, and defense. KCP provides them all. Name another wing in the draft with all of those attributes.

McCollum was all they had, he had an off couple games shooting but played outstanding as a whole. You can see hes gonna be a stud.

You want awful, look towards MCW's shooting % or McLemore following up a 25 pt game with a 1 pt game.

I was hoping for c.j.mac to be our draft pick. And nothing after summer leagues has changed my mind.

Really, like the one guy said, you can't take a whole lot away from a summer league game. I recall Billy Curley, yeah curley not hurley, have some monster games in summer league and he was not even a good end of bench player.

I'm hopeful of pope, but not that excited about him.

I don't think we will be able to answer the question posed for quite awhile. We will just have to wait and see how things progress first.

Based on what I have seen so far though... I am liking what I saw from him in SL after he got situated with the flow of things.

I think KCP was the perfect pick. I wasn't aware that he was so athletic and defensive minded. Combine that with his size, shooting ability, and him being a SG and I'm sold. I think Joe made the right pick yet again.

I'd be really wary of someone giving us the 8th pick again...I mean, the draft has past. That's like someone trying to give yo a ticket to a game that happened last week. No good could come from associating with this person.

Fortunately for the Detroit Pistons and Piston fans, KCP seems like a perfect fit and has "Piston DNA". That's unfortunate for him because he will probably have under-appreciated value outside of Detroit.

It speaks volumes on his value that when his shot isn't falling, he steps up the other pieces of his game to still bring value.

McLemore will probably be the sexier name/pick, perhaps even in the long-run, but I think KCP will have a better all-around impact.

(of course it's absurdly early to make value judgments, so this is all just gut-feel)

I would have considered trading the 8th pick and Villanueva for Jrue Holiday.

^Philly/New Orleans agreed to the deal pre-draft based on the possibility that one of Bennett/Noel/Oladipo were available. Since all three were gone at 8, I don't think they would have traded Holiday.

As for the thread, I would still take KCP and believe he will be a beast. Better than Nick Young who for some reason a few people compared him to, and better than(yes) Klay Thompson who some people labeled as his ceiling.
