So maybe the report about him needing to be immobalized for 3 weeks wasn't entirely true. Sounds like he's just in a lot of pain and is just sitting out until the games count, and then he's going to force himself to play even if he's not 100%.

that's what I like to hear, there may be some hope for that Jennings guy after all. :D

Didn't the previous Brandon we had play the very next game after breaking his nose last year?

If BJ7 ends up playing game 1, okay, but it would be nice to have him out there running some of these pre-season games, getting some chemistry established.

Yes Brandon Knight played after he received treatment for his broken nose.

Brandon Jennings' prescribed treatment is to be immobilized for 3 weeks, so he'll play some time after his treatment protocol is complete.

I may be in the minority here wanting to see Bynum start and prove ya'll wrong!!!

Well, that and I would like to see Siva get a few minutes as I think this kid has a career in this league regardless if it is just as a backup or possibly, maybe a starter someday down the road somewhere.

You're comparing Irving to Jennings. What you should be doing is comparing Detroit's medical staff against Cleveland's.

Which, I wouldn't recommend, considering how their players are injured quite regularly and experience chronic issues. Where as Detroit's players generally stay healthy and completely heal from their injuries.

So, I'm basically defecating on your rebuttal and saying your napkin of a response doesn't hold any water.

I think my opinion lies somewhere between both of yours. Playing through an injury isn't always a -smart- thing to do. Players are rarely ever completely 100%, and you have to respect a guy like Kobe who plays through injury. In the same regard, look at a guy like Brandon Roy who came back less than two weeks after surgery in the playoffs and then ended up getting re-injured soon afterwards. In the end there has to be a compromise between players who are determined enough to play through injury and a medical staff that knows when to shut them down.

seeing as how Jeenings himself tweeted that its his call, id have to say this is pretty much a moot point. and by the tone of his tweet, im going to assume Zeeb and I werent the only ones questioning the length of time he'd be out.

How the hell is this Jennings's fault? This has nothing to do with getting hit in the mouth. He played a game afterwards. How can anyone deduce this stemmed from that incident? Makes absolutely zero sense.

^I just find it hard to see how getting punched in the jaw, then having jaw issues a week later could be unrelated. imho, at best the punch knocked the tooth out of whack. at worst the punch broke his jaw and theyre using wisdom teeth as a cover, or maybe its just a weird coincidence.

I honestly could really care less at this point what it is, as long as hes suited up opening night it really doesn't matter.

That tweet was also deleted soon afterwards. I would assume it's not entirely his decision, as Detroit's medical and training staff are incredibly hands-on with their players. But, that's just opinion, much like yours.

That's going to make those first few weeks all the more rough.

Its really only 1 week (if 4 games). The Washington and Boston games at home should be winnable without Jennings. Then if they can split the Memphis and Pacers games, that will still be a great start at 3-1. Even if we lose both of those, if we just take care of business at home vs Wizards and Celtics, start 2-2 and then get Jennings back for the rest of the year, I'd be fine with that too.

His mouth is wired shut. At least, that's what I read on the Pistons site.
